That kick was so saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. I realize it was just a stunt, but it was a line drive that went barely 30 yards, and if the other team let the ball go it'd have gone out of bounds. I'm pretty sure the 3rd String Center could have kicked it further. On a lighter note, it’s only a rumor that Vanderbilt will cease its season if their kicker tests positive for a baby.
They said that’s what she was called on to do. I know it was historical, but she was named the SEC special teams player of the week for that ONE squib kick I believe. That’s a big deal for some of these guys that have dedicated their entire lives to the game. That kick was so saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Histrionics from the announcers aside, it felt like they were treating her like a kid with Down Syndrome getting to score a touchdown in a spring game. Its one of those moments that they present as being empowering to women that I think just makes a mockery of them.
Someone should have asked the head coach in the postgame presser: "So did she win the job?"

My sons team a few years ago would put the kids that never got in on the kickoff team and then have the kicker kick the ball out of bounds....I laughed every single time they did it.They called on her to squib it to the 35? They could have had literally 75% of the guys on the team just kick the ball out of bounds and line up on the 35. They didn’t need her to do that.
It was a stunt plain and simple, that’s not even breaking any “barriers” because she’s not even the first female kicker in FBS.
And yeah, the player of the week crap just proves the stunt angle.
No way they called on her to squib it. It makes no sense in that situation. It was a token gesture just to get her on the field and the coaches should be ashamed. I will give her props for having bigger balls than the other players and calling them out at half time for playing with no fireThey called on her to squib it to the 35? Oh but then you missed the big deal - she was the first female to play in P5. (Nebraska had a female punter in 2000, but that was BCS, which no longer exists so it never happened - yay! New glass ceiling to break!)It was a stunt plain and simple, that’s not even breaking any “barriers” because she’s not even the first female kicker in FBS.
Thats what the media was saying and she actually mentioned something to the affect in an interview after the game with ESPN. FWIWNo way they called on her to squib it. Yes I know that’s what they said it still makes no sense. And just goes to show it was all a stunt. If a female can go out and boot it out the back of the end zone and consistently mail 45+ yard field goals then by all means let her do it. This girl couldn’t in that moment, I think they said her range is about 35 yards. Give me a week of practice and I can go out and do that.Thats what the media was saying and she actually mentioned something to the affect in an interview after the game with ESPN. FWIW
