Former Herd baseball player Jon Robertson passes away

A caller on Paul & Woody's radio show Thursday said Jon played for the Herd under coaches Jack Cook and Howard McCann. He has been an assistant baseball coach at Huntington High.

JON A. "ROCKET" ROBERTSON, 43, of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.

Jon was born November 23, 1971, in Huntington, a son of the late Harold Gene and Pauline Mayse Robertson. He was an employee of Browns Food Service (CMJ, Inc.) and coached Huntington High School baseball. Jon is survived by his wife Heather Parsons Robertson; two sons, Myles and Cooper Robertson, both at home; and a host of good friends, players and coaches.

After the services at the cemetery, the family is having a celebration of his life at Huntington High School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Huntington High School's baseball or football programs at (#1 Highlander Way, Huntington, WV 25701, Att: Bruce Senior). Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary after 10 a.m.on Saturday.
