Really puts the onus on the league to get our game with Rice back on the docket.

Not sure I buy their excuse and blaming covid. If they are scared get an effing watch dog!
get beat by an FCS school 3 days ago and here comes a ranked Marshall team to kick that ass and all of sudden have too many covid issues to play??? This stinks to high heaven.
The 60 minutes of getting your face smashed in on the way to 0-4.
This is why the championship game was pushed back two weeks, to accommodate makeups.

Possibly, doubtful though. Plenty of the players know one another since FL is still where Doc gets recruits from. Not out of fear of being pummeled, I just think both FIU and FAU don't care to take protocol seriously.
Remember who the head coach is...he never took rules seriously.
I pissed the conference hasn't attempted to intervene and mandate some of these games be made up.
Rice, as far as I know hasn't re-scheduled. FIU, well, they're a divisional team, I'd believe they'd HAVE to re-schedule somehow.

Prediction: those teams will come down with COVID the week of the game and have to "postpone." Neither will be playing for anything, and with no penalty for forfeit, I don't imagine either will want to.

The sad thing is, through no fault of the CUSA administration, we are gifting them a goose that lays golden eggs (If not for MU this season the league would be an absolute laughingstock) and what are the brilliant minds in Dallas going to do?... They are going to cut its head off and eat it for dinner the first night.
Im not saying CUSA should be doing whatever our AD and coach ask them too, but for the love of god just don't totally F' us... Make Rice honor their game in Huntington and book us a trip to FIU the following week. It should take two phone calls and about 20 minutes.

The only thing that might help us is Penn State is right ahead of us and they are going to get throttled by Ohio State... Indiana is two spots ahead of us and there is no guarantee they beat Rutgers.
If they both lose and drop, we may be able to hold where we are for one week.

League office should really look into these supposedly COVID related postponements. If these schools refuse to make up the dates in December the League ought to declare the games as forfeited losses, "1-0" in MU's favor. League opened the door, IMO, by letting ODU opt out of the season. Should have declared all of ODU's conference games as forfeited wins for their opponents at the outset of the season!

I think this lowers our ceiling too. I felt we would jump 2-3 spots after Saturday and by seasons end we'd be flirting with the top10. I don't think that will happen now.
I mean unless somehow being idle doesn't hurt us and we still move up if the teams in front of us lose.

ESPN talking heads: Undefeated Marshall will face off against once beaten Notre Dame in the 2021 Fiesta Bowl. The Herd will enter the contest with an unblemished record of 11-0, with six of those wins coming by a score of 1 to 0, by virtue of forfeits.
I guess we are stuck. Most teams that could have been possible opponents are no longer. The thought of lying prostrate (not part of the male anatomy) before our commish and pleading for her to do her job is infuriating! Only the Herd could do everything right and still see such a frustrating situation unfolding! I have busted Doc plenty on here, but if he can keep his staff and this special team on point and guide them through these murky waters? I will be highly impressed! Go Herd!
Some good news... I read in the Miami Herald this morning that FIU officials are saying the game can be made up on one of the open December dates.
Give us Rice and FIU, in whatever order, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 and that's about the best we can ask for at this point.

Wish the Herd would have contacted Nebraska to play this weekend. Would have been a good game to show how the Herd would matchup against low-middle P5 team, plus getting to play in that stadium would have been pretty cool. Nebraska is going to play UT-Chattanooga, pending B1G conference approval.
