Pretty strong editorial by a conservative's conservative:

"Corey Lewandowski, a Trump campaign official who fell from the king’s grace but is crawling back (he works for Vice President Pence’s political action committee), recently responded on Fox News to the story of a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome taken from her parents at the border. Lewandowski replied: “Wah, wah.” Meaningless noise is this administration’s appropriate libretto because, just as a magnet attracts iron filings, Trump attracts, and is attracted to, louts."

George said this before the election. Vote for Hillary and spend the next 4 years trying to get her out of office. That's a fact. He doesnt like trump at all but can't stand Hillary. But said to vote for Hillary.

Because you are not one.

George Will has done jack crap but write overrated books on baseball.

He's one of many of these kinds of conservatives that are really not interested in small government or fiscal conservatism, but of a kind of emotional and class conservatism where he gets to sit in a big house in Washington DC while all the white trash wage slaves do the actual work of conservatism.

If that were true we wouldn't be debating immigration reform or trade deals or...

If it weren't true, some politicians who realize he is destroying both the GOP and the country would have the balls to stand up to him and say enough is enough. Looking forward to November.

Is this anything like the white trash conservatism where they are really not interested in small government or fiscal conservatism, only just staying a class above the blacks and Mexicans and voting for emotional appeals about God, gays, guns, and Muslims?

Last I was really into reading conservative philosophy, trade wars were not fiscally conservative or small government.

Honestly, the trashy side of conservatism sounds a hell of a lot more like an emotional and class thing to me than anything Will has ever advocated. And that's fine, whatever floats peoples' boats. But it seems awfully disingenuous to call Trumpism "conservatism" or "classical liberalism" with a straight face.

Did you ever read Will? His brand of conservatism is a lot more English conservatism of a landed-gentry rules the Earth kind.

In what way has the GOP done any actual conservatism since Bob Taft?

Do you actually mean Bob Taft, the corrupt ex-gov of Ohio? Or his grandfather? Because I am sort of chuckling at the mention of Bob Taft.
