Really impressed. He’s not flashy and speaks in a down to earth fashion. One thing I think I caught in the Q&A was that we aren’t giving up on getting some of our players back out of the portal. Said people make emotional decisions in an uncertain situation. He had a team meeting this past Monday, and has spoken with each member of the team. He was asked about recruiting in state talent. He said if they’re good enough to help us win the conference and get us into the playoffs, he wants them. But, it can’t just be that they’re local products. He jokingly thanked Chris Spears for scheduling Georgia as his first game as HC. He spoke about the 75. Said “We are because they were.” At the end recognized Coach Pruett. Said they had a 62 minute phone call and Bob talked for 59 1/2!
Said he has all but one of his new staff lined up.
p.s. He is going to be involved with prep for the bowl game, doing what he can to help us get ready.

He also promised he isn't going anywhere. "Bought his last house..."

The #1 job prerequisite at Marshall.

That alone has many MU fans creaming in their pants.

It's funny because MU (and wvu to a lesser degree) have seen what real life looks like...so they hire Gibson. Alright, he may do well, I hope so, but it seems like they took the local guy because they don't want to keep routinely being reminded of how little they matter in the world.

Guess MU would rather not be a stepping stone, despite all the fans accepting that's exactly what MU is, and it being the model for success (see 2024 SBC Champions, Marshall)...in exchange for someone who (as MU fans have constantly complained about) has never been a HC, coming from a P5 program, essentially downgrading his reach, budget, and resources in general...all the stuff they tried to distance themselves from.

But gee golly darn he's from WV!!! The Good 'ole Boy Network is back online!!!

This clearly wasn't the same strategy MU took when hiring the next HC...
This was exactly because he's local...but just because he is, doesn't mean he will be any good.
