When is Gillette (they also makes razors for the ladies) going to run ads against gold digging whores? I don't know why women get upset when I ask this - it's not like I'm implying they're all gold digging whores.Gillette should have stuck with the shaquem griffin ad
All things aside I thought that was a stupid commercial
No didn’t you know januhairy was racist? It’s not a thing nowHave you all seen that new thing where these disgusting women are not shaving their arm pit hair? Gross.
They didn't shave their pits where I was stationed in Germany years ago. I got over it pretty quick.Have you all seen that new thing where these disgusting women are not shaving their arm pit hair? Gross.
Oh ok, I saw some granola tree hugger showing off her armpit hair. Very disturbing. No didn’t you know januhairy was racist? It’s not a thing now

Sure....you say that now. But, at 19, I'm guessing your perspective was probably a little different. No thanks.
When’s the last time there has been a discussion on this board about Gillette’s razors? I’d say they’ve achieved what they intended.I suppose Gillette is hoping they'll get more business with this crap the way Nike did with its Kapernick ads.
Razor blades are a commodity....and, I suppose, Gillette is seeing its sales slide due to all the new, cheaper competition like Dollar Shave Club and Harrys.
But Nike is an apparel or fashion thing - and their brand has been tied to the renegade athlete for sometime. The Kapernick thing works for them because people strap on shoes to be seen....nobody knows what razor you use and they don't really care.
Gillette needs to stop giving us lessons in social behavior and get back to selling razors.

Our society gets so worked up over shit that ultimately doesn’t matter. Companies are starting to take advantage of this and exploit it for their benefit. Do something “controversial” and get free advertisement when Billy Joe & Sue Bob have to interject their opinion on social media.
I actually remember a discussion about razors on here. I think it was about one of those shave club deals. When’s the last time there has been a discussion on this board about Gillette’s razors? I’d say they’ve achieved what they intended.

I don’t know either. But the fact they’re doing it, shows the numbers support the decision to shift their marketing.Good points....they've generated exposure/awareness. Not sure it will improve consumer opinion and consideration....and purchase. I suppose we'll see.
Who clean shaves on this board & who has a beard of any sustained length that doesn't require frequent razor use? If you clean shave, do you vote democrat? When’s the last time there has been a discussion on this board about Gillette’s razors? I’d say they’ve achieved what they intended.

BTW, my comments aren't targeted to the social discussion; my issue is...is this good business? Will this direction generate the desired sales. And if there's no sales target for the campaign, then why would Gillette do it? I'm sure stock holders aren't interested in advancing the woke initiative.I don’t know either. Dance, puppets, dance.
No, but I think it became a hip them among the feminazis recently. I guess to show hey look at us with our hair arm pitsNew? You think women have been shaving their pits for hundreds of years?

I can understand that. I don't like to shave either. I shave maybe twice a week, and that's only because I start to itch.
Let's be honest: would you want to shave your pits?

I can’t help but wonder if GK has researched this as much as the teens/Native American incident
I was stationed in Germany for 2 years, 69-71, and you had to adjust to hairy armpits and legs. I agree with you Chevy! They didn't shave their pits where I was stationed in Germany years ago. I got over it pretty quick.
Harrys and dollarshave club have used innovative distribution and marketing to steal Gillette customers. They sell product value. Gillette has opted to preach social values.Which would you rather have? Company A that has absolutely no brand recognition with $1 million in sales or Company B that has huge brand name recognition with $1 million in sales?
Now, you could argue that Company A has greater potential due to having the same sales with no name, meaning they have far more growth potential, but most people would rather have the branding to go along with the sales.
On top of that, some companies actually do care about doing the ethical thing regardless if it earns them a dollar or not.

I hate the modern world. I just want to buy a razor and shave. I don't need to hear about social injustices or value. It is a razor not a sermon or deep thought life altering decision.Harrys and dollarshave club have used innovative distribution and marketing to steal Gillette customers. They sell product value. Brand Recognition isn't an issue for a brand like Gillette. Consumers know Gillette sells razors.
The campaign targets a younger demographic. Would guess share loss is primarily in that demo. Assume marketing folks believe they'll get more younger consumers than they may lose with older consumers. After all, the ad labels the older generation of males as bad guys. However, there's lots of ways this could go down. Perhaps old guys are more brand loyal....will continue to buy.
Also, could this be interpreted as "snowflake" vs "non-snowflake"? That's a bit polarizing as well.
It will be interesting to see how this washes out - it's a gutsy move. However, Mr. Hammond is right - we're talking about it which must be a big part of the campaign's objective. From that perspective, it's been a huge hit.
