Yeah, you better REALLY love winter and not leaving the mountain.

As a consolation prize, how about owning the headwaters of the South Branch of the Potomac? @wvkeeper(HN) , you are as a big a nerd as me, this would be awesome to lay claim to:

Decent price on this one, but not sure about whether the neighbors would be assholes or not.

Absolutely stunning. I really need to make a point to go to areas with little light pollution just to look at the sky. Most people go a lifetime without looking up.
Go to the beach at night. Or very early AM. Lay down and look up. That picture is from South Carolina.

I'm 100% retiring somewhere in that corner of WV where Tucker, Randolph, Pocahontas, Pendleton, and Grant counties are.
franklin is a great town. people extremely friendly. not much to do, but just across the mountain from harrisonburg, probably 45 minute drive.

davis/thomas/canaan area is pretty darn spectacular if you can handle the winters. it's just an entirely different world up there. learn to ski, if you can't, and you'll absolutely love it. me, older i get, worse i'm hating the cold.

Good place to visit, maybe own a small vacation property, but them damn hippies up there are a strange bunch. Drank 3 or 4 beers one night up at the Purple Fiddler, and was thinking I was in dire need of a hit of acid just to fit in with the crowd.

I graduated high school from Pocahontas County HS and my Great-Grandpa's family was from Franklin. I love that area.
hell, chances are we're related. my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd great grandfathers were total cock-whores in that area back in the 1800's and early 1900's.

You familiar with a nice log cabin up Bushwhacker Lane in Marlinton? Backs up to the national forest. Well built log cabin, but I imagine the damn bugs would eat you alive. I've been following it for almost a year now, and it still hasn't sold.

Did some deer hunting near FT Seybert years ago. Spectacular places up there.
