Without AJDIN PENAVA (last season's MVP in my opinion)....Coach Dan & Staff...do not have the luxury of missed possessions this year. Two losses last week...La Tech & WKU came down to lost possessions..."a missed block out, a missed layup at the other side of the rim, or a turnover that lead to a layup on the other side."

The guys have to learn (going forward) that EVERY possession matters---they must do a better job of blocking out due to their smallness and hopefully after the 50-point blowout at So Miss---they will understand that blocking out is paramount, they need to make crisper two hand passes (rather than lazy cross lane exchanges), and be more sure handed with the basketball. I am not naming names....we all have watched the guys this season....but a few players are not performing as they did last year. I do believe the guys are playing better defense that previous years---but the lack of jump switch offs when an opponent has an uncontested path to the rim----is a lack of effort or concern. My HS school used to say....."Bring Blood on an uncontested player heading to the rim---on sit on the bench with me!"

Just my humble opinion...Nothing More---Nothing Less.

BRING ON THE HERD...and pack the CAM.

Add to that, Zilla, absolute hideous execution too often of what is suppose to be man to man "defense" by the Herd. No better example than at the end of regulation play at LA Tech after Williams had given the Herd the lead with a trey. A LA Tech player went coast to coast for a virtually uncontested lay up to send the game into ot. 3 Herd players under our defensive goal all drifted to one side of the lane and never really made much of an effort to impede the offensive player's drive to the goal. Laziness, sloppy and/or slow footwork, or a combination of factors. Guys play like they've never heard of a "switch", much less practiced how to do it or executed it successfully in a game!!! If Danny didn't royally chew some rear ends after that game, I'd be highly disappointed. Huggy Bear would have chewed, stomped, ranted and probably lobbed more than a few "f-bombs" from Ruston all the way back to Morganhole!!!
