Low life post.Nick Smith on losing your scholarship!!!!
He was awful, but you cant blame one kid for that loss... Our offensive line was absolutely terrible and our other kicker was 0/2 as well.
Gee you guys didn't complain when Nick was 12 for 12. The kid has totally lost his confidence and needs our support and not our criticism.
I'm not not defending Smith as he missed kicks (plural) that would have won us the game. But speaking as a fan of Marshall, watching Smith who had been perfect up until last game get the kicker's yips is tough to watch.
Well, while I understand he blew the game on a chip shot FG and was upset as any normal human being would be, you can't CRY. He was literally crying. That does NO good for him, the players, coaches, THE TEAM; ultimately. Doc made a good decision in sitting him down for the remainder of the game. Had he kept his $h*t together and not cried on national TV, he may have played in OT and won us the game. Could of, should of, would of. I feel for the young man, but you have got to keep it together out there. There's no place for crying on the football field before the game is over. Kickers must be mentally tough and he showed Doc that he IS NOT. You have to be able to miss them, shake it off, and hit the next one. You can't friggin CRY PERIOD. I don't think I'm being harsh either. I do realize these are young men, but they are MEN. The fact that Doc went with our kickoff specialist AFTER he missed one as well shows you exactly why he did so. The man may have missed, but he didn't cry. He went back out there to do his job. We came up short and this is in the past and we move on. However, I agree with Doc and his decision making. Hopefully Nick grows and learns from this. He may or may not be given another chance. I'm sure Doc will have him earn it back. Ultimately, we've played well considering injuries and to be where we are with a chance to still win CUSA is remarkable. Chase is a tough kid. I have to admit. It was tough seeing Chase play so remarkable on the last drive, take that late hit, etc. He put us in PERFECT position to win in regulation. Shame we couldn't get it done. Kickers have off days too. But you can't cry on the football field, Nick. Shake it off, prove you're a MAN and move on.
You probably didn't play sports...did you...
I haven't posted for years. But as the father of a young student athlete, football in particular, I have to say something. There is absolutely room on the football field for tears. You have obviously no clue.
played sports my whole life. just didn't cry about it.
I'm not a psychologist (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express recently).
Because you already sucked and your team didn't win...I honestly wouldn't expect you to know athletics. Those who dog athlete emotions either were terrible at sports or never played.
Dude, what are you, like 6 years old? My post wasn't meant to "dog" athlete emotions. But since you've taken it out of context, like most children often do, I'll break out the BIG purple crown just for you. PERCEPTION is EVERYTHING. If you believe differently, you're naive and delusional. Especially in this game. I feel for Nick and wish him nothing but the best. However, my point was simply that you have to keep your composure. We still had a football game to win (at that point). If you choose to argue with anything I just said, god help you. Nuff said.
God is apparently helping Starbucks right now.
You don't agree with Nick's reaction, alright. I don't agree with you but thats fine. But why be so damn condescending of it if you claim to care? Just say you don't agree and be done with it.
