The game was close but I thought it was over. Completely different team last 8 mins. Wow

I thought we were beat and a tremendous finish. I won't sleep a wink. Nothing greater than being a herd fan.

First half our lines were getting dominated. Thank God we wont see lines that big or that physical the rest of the year. Our DL still concerns me greatly.

Thank our conditioning coach for the last 8 minutes..
Also, Purdue's DT, number 54 I think, was a brute and was dominating our freshman guard in the first half, so they were able to pressure Birdsong by rushing only 4. He didn't seem to be in the game as much in the second half. Don't know if he was getting tired or what.

The size difference between their offensive line and defensive line is something we won't see again until a bowl game. Across their OL from left to right...298, 305, 294, 312, 301. Our DL is 244, 278, 290, 254. And their OL are trained to flop on top of our DL any chance they could get to wear them down more. The biggest difference between P5 schools and G5 schools is the ability to get the OL and DL guys. I have faith that our skill position players are just as athletic as theirs, albeit a little smaller across the board. The size discrepancy between their OL and our DL makes me all that much more proud of how the guys played. Throw in a guy like Gary Thompson that had 10+ tackles. Knowing these guys can handle that kind of size has to give them a ton of confidence moving forward.

On the other hand, our OL goes as follows. 317,284,283,282,314. We are smaller due to the spread we use. However we are fast and strong and did not wear down. Our DE have always been small. I agree it would be nice to beef up the middle some on DL but they made plays when it mattered. We will not face a better OL all season .

This is the type of game 3 or 4 years ago we lose. We have the mentality that we are going to find a way to win at any cost now. The team has bought in to Doc's system and it showed. When our backs were against the wall we played our best ball and found a way to get the W.
