Grant Wells

I have watched this kid throw a football since South Hills Midget League. I knew he would be a good one.

I know, one game doesn’t make a star but the kid is unflappable, has a cannon arm and has a football mind.

Showed some speed on that keeper and is not afraid to run.

Very tight spirals, balls were thrown where they needed to be. he should have had 5 TDS but for a drop in the end zone.

I promise you, he does not get flustered and will continue to grow. He went to a WVU camp His JR year and was not offered, wonder what the brain trust in Motown thought watching the game lol.

Just saw where Brad Smith of the Voice of MoTown had an article on how Wells would be only 4-5 string for the Eers and not good enough to play for them. What a douche bag - par for the course for the eerdiots.

Hilarious. Here's the "article": https://voiceofmotown.com/is-grant-wells-the-best-quarterback-in-west-virginia/

Smith acts like Doege is some super highly recruited stud. Spoiler alert: He wasn't.

In fact, his only offer out of high school was from Bowling Green:

The fact is, I didn't even know who this loser was until you mentioned him.

I'll now go back to not caring who this guy is or if he ceases to exist.

Back on track: 2 plays that stood out to me were 2 that didn't net any yds. In fact, I think they were 2 of the very seldom negative yardage plays from last week. #1 was the end around that was sniffed out by the Colonel D. The other one, however, I liked, esp. from a RS Frosh QB. He rolled right, was looking for the open receiver. None open, so he made the smart play and took the loss out of bounds. Too many times a young one tries to make a play when there isn't one, and a pick is the result....impressed!

I wish coaches did more to educate QBs that, when running out of bounds behind the LOS, just throw the ball to avoid the loss. If its on your sideline, find a friend and soft toss him the ball. If its on the opposing sideline, find the HFC and throw a dart at his cheek.

i have to say that second play was one of the mistakes I hope he will correct Not a positive play. He was short of the line of scrimmage when he went out of bounds and it was a pass play so lineman were pass blocking so he should have thrown the ball away, not run out of bounds and lost a couple of yards. Throw it away, get it back at the line of scrimmage, not back it up 2 yards for running out of bounds.

Upon further review, you both are absolutely correct. From what Pike said earlier, he will continue to learn & improve...

MU PIKE, there was discussion on Metro News Sports Line the other evening on WVU's interest, if any. Tony Caridi and his sidekick basically indicated that then WVU Coach, Holgersen, or, more correctly, "Hungoveragin" did not have a very high opinion of in state football players in general. The camp that Wells attended was probably during Holgy's reign.
