Health Canada Wants Kids to Know About State-Assisted Suicide

Being against allowing terminally ill, in tremendous pain patients to have a medically assisted suicide is one of the more puzzling positions I see people have.

I don’t agree with anti-abortion folk, but I can kind of understand why the ones who don’t just hate women feel the way they do. I don’t agree with “tough on crime” folks, but I can see where they’re coming from.

Looking at a terminally ill, ravaged by cancer, bedridden person and saying “no, you have to feel this way for a few more weeks, till your body quits.” I’m never going to wrap my head around that lack of mercy.

People hate women if they do not want children to be murdered?

Probably a good idea if grandma has terminal brain cancer.

We really should have this here. It would be a lot less messy than what I will do if I have terminal cancer.
You understand you can kill yourself without blowing your head off, right?

Run down to your local Walgreens and tell them you want the new bivalent booster. Your next-of-kin will (for now) still get the life insurance check.

I was drawing a distinction between those who oppose abortion because they believe it’s child murder and those who just want to punish women for having sex.
There's another distinction: punishing irresponsible people for poor decision-making and lack of impulse control. That's my group. I'm 100% pro-abortion for the type of people who get abortions, but they should be shamed and punished.

As is usual with these kinds of arguments, a person takes the most extreme example and be like "How Could You Be Against That?". No one is against proper end of life care. I am against the Government advocating, and promoting assisted suicide. Like how we pretend we're not putting people to death by injecting them with chemicals in what should be a violent end at the penitentiary, the problem is MAID is targeting not people with extreme terminal cancer to safely provide dignity in palliative and hospice, but coercing folks and agencies into making MAID the be all and end all (no pun intended) for a wide range of non-life threatening/physically debilitating "diseases" like depression and lupus.

You do not need to have a fatal or terminal condition to qualify for eligibility under Canada’s MAID law (changed in 2021). Additionally, beginning in 2023 mental illness becomes an allowable condition (part of the 2021 changes).

So, coming soon, a person suffering depression, or just experiences a traumatic event, can jog on down to the doctor and get peacefully killed.
