Herd Helps Own Cause with Win

Can you imagine the potential in a few years? Even this year we have a shot at 20 wins. Go Herd!

UAB also only starts 1 Sr. They are starting 2 sophs that made the All-Freshman squad last year...so they will be good again next year. They also have a 7-foot recruit.

I think this team is still suffering from over scheduling early. I know D ays those games help prepare this team but if we don't have the wins to go post season (NIT or CBI) then what good does those L's do.

I think this team is hurting more from VMI being dickholes than it is from over scheduling.. If VMI just releases Elmore and he can play from the first game.. Then instead of being 4-9 in the OOC portion of the season I think we would have been more like 7-6 or 6-7.. Those extra couple of wins would mean a lot right now.

not necessarily, he would've been able to apply for a ncaa waiver to play right away instead of the normal year in residence required of transfers. vmi not releasing him from his loi prevented him from being able to apply for that waiver.

Either way without those asshats releasing him he didn't have a chance to play from game one.. And I think not having him for the first semester hurt us more than our schedule did.. That was the point I was trying to make.

VMI had nothing to do with Elmore not playing he still had to set out two full semester per NCAA regulations. Now, VMI can keep him from getting that first year back due to family hardship but he had to sit out due NCAA.

wrong. vmi didn't release him from his letter of intent. had they released him from the loi he could've appealed to play immediately for a family hardship (and also get his year back).

VMI cost him a year of eligibility. Should they release him over the next couple of years he could still get it back.

Do those around the team believe that getting his year back is likely, Ty? It would be ashamed that a kid that never suited up would lose a year.

I think something people lose track of sometimes with Elmore is that he's only a freshman from an experience perspective and isn't even 20 games into his career. What he's doing is amazing for someone with such little experience. Three more years after this year would sound very comforting for Marshall basketball fans.

I'll try to remember to ask Danny that today at practice or at Tip Off luncheon tomorrow.

I just heard DD say "hopefully he gets a year back" a week or so ago.

As it stands now Elmore will have 2 1/2 years of time on court. How does that work ? I hope he gets it back

The 1/2 thing comes in because he transferred in at mid year. IF he gets the year back he will get 3 1/2 years. As of now he is a sophomore instead of a freshman.
