High school stadium

If you lose at a MAC stadium and no one is there to see it, is it still a loss?

I hate acting superior to FBS teams, because that's what P5 teams do to us... But I can't believe we had to go to that stadium.

Look at Kent State's future schedule, after yesterday, they only have ONE OOC home game against an FBS school scheduled and it's Georgia Southern...

That is the same thing the p5 teams do to us.... our stadium probably looks small to someone used to playinf in 60-80k seat stadiums.... it should be about the quality of play on the field not the size of the market but it is human nature i guess

Monmouth? Kennesaw St? WTF are those?

Look for Kennesaw St. to be a serious candidate to join C-USA within the next 5-6 years. They are located in metro Atlanta with an enrollment of over 32,000. The upside is it would give C-USA a better footprint in the Atlanta market than say Georgia State. The downside is this their first year of football, so you are looking at a Charlotte type situation.. however they have come out of the gate being very competitive, plus they are in the heart of one of the most talent rich states for HS football. The also have really good baseball and basketball.

Kennesaw State has no shot in joining CUSA, NONE

But this is why Kent State is on my list of teams needed to drop to the 1AA level

Kennesaw State o_O

Hey guys, I look for Kennesaw State and Monmouth to joint forces with schools like Incarnate Word, New Jersey Tech, Savannah State, and maybe Northeastern South Dakota A&M Polytechnical State to form a new FBS conference in a couple of years. Of course, ESPN will immediately, and happily, orchestrate the creation of at least 3 new post season football bowl games to add to their ever growing holiday telecast fare!!!

When the Eers made their first trip to Huntington, some inebriated girl behind me said really loud "Oh my God! Look how small this is! Our high school stadium was bigger than this!"

Couldn't help but turn around and ask her what high school she went to that had a 38,000 seat stadium. Moron

I actually could see the NCAA taking a serious look at attendance as a major figure point to kicking some schools down to the FCS level. That would take care of the entire MAC, Sun Belt, 80% of the MWC, and 90% of AAC and CUSA.
They wouldn't even need to go, just get a photographer to take a picture of the middle of the 2nd quarter.
Oh, and yes, must be nice to be KSU, cause they dont have a single return game from any major school and have teams worse than we scheduled as their main home opponents.

I don't think our stadium is small. I think it is adequate for our market size and fan base. While I hope our fan base grows to a point that we need to expand somewhere down the road it just isn't logical at this point in time because we fail to fill it now. So my post was more about that state of mind of bigger schools than ours having the same perception as we have of stadiums like theirs. What sense would it make for them to have a bigger stadium when they average 14k fans? Just saying it is a fact that our stadium isn't the biggest and we cant dispute that when teams from larger schools come to play us. While they think our stadium is small we take pride in our home and defend it with everything we have in us on the field and in the stands. So when we make the same observations of a school smaller than us while they were giving us fits on the field i think the observation/comparison was appropriate but it was just my opinion

Every school in every conference has a stadium like ours...
Even the P-5...
Agreed. Somewhat going off topic and Not that it is a larger stadium than ours bc it isnt. It isnt even the biggest hs field in texas but you guys should look at eagle stadium in allen, tx. It seats around 20k i think but it cost almost 60k to build. They had some structure issues and had to close it for repair but still impressive for a hs stadium.

Watched some of the Indiana at Wake Forest game yesterday. Stadium holds 31,000 with an announced crowd of 22,000. That was a generous estimate. Those that complain about our crowds would have been crazy. I suppose that my point is that we need to just look around a little to appreciate what we have.

Yeah I pay attention to stuff like that too and did watch that game. Vandy doesn't sell out, Duke until recently didn't and those are smaller than ours minus vandy. Cincy while in the Big East did not sell out much and had a smaller stadium than ours, UConn was no different, right around the same size as ours while updated version and didn't sell out during medicore years and now its putrid. I am sure I am missing several but those are the ones that really come to mind. I am sure others can chime in. We do as good and some P-5's and really brings it home on how unfair it is to schools like ours who have decent fan turnout and provide a good atmosphere vs. some of the previously mentioned school who receive the money they do.

Even with all the money in the world, if the fanbase is fickle like it is in the entire state, nobody will sell out.

Attendance or size of the stadium is not nearly as important as revenue generated by the football program, the size of the athletic department budget and how much of that budget is subsidized by the school.

Yeah, I think everyone is pretty much in agreement this was a bad idea for a series. But then again it was scheduled before we had drivable conference road games. Hamrick has been spot on in more recent deals for games.

I was at Kent. They announced the crowd at 15,000 plus and that was about right. That will most likely be their largest crowd of the year. Next week could be bigger against Miami only because it's homecoming.

They top out at 25,000 people with an announced crowd of 15,000+...

You're telling me that place was over 60% full?

It looked maybe 10,000 full.
