Yep, just one right now as @jrod64 said. Obinna Anocholi-Killen has already signed his LOI.

If any additional scholarships open I'd expect Dan and his staff to look to David Early and/or Rob Jonaitis:

If nobody leaves the program after this season, aside from the one (already gone) senior (Sustic), then what is the status of Collins next year? Already sitting out currently, without a scholarship, is he a walk on in 20-21, or on scholarship if someone else leaves?

I believe the plan is for Collins to be put on scholarship in 2021-2022. That's according to @Herdmeister

I wouldn’t be surprised if Beyers uses his last year of eligibility elsewhere. Also wouldn’t be surprised if Brooks-Harris is gone but because of his off-court issues. Dillon strikes me as another Phil Bledsoe who could do well at one of the D2 schools in the state. I have a bad feeling about Jannson’s situation based off of playing time and comments made by his stepdad. I could easily see 3 maybe even 4 scholarships open up next year.

9-12? Soon to be 9-13
Very true.

But I'm not sure the 304 argument can be used here. We don't have many guys from WV right now and our best player is from WV. If you swap Luke Frampton for CBH, Chase Johnson for Mikel Beyers, & Elijah Cuffee instead of Sustic, you have a different roster and a very good team.

Jannson redshirted, wonder if he's ready to graduate and move on? That would be a scenario I can see happening. I think Beyers leaves, too, but hate to see it as I think he can be a contributor with just a bit of confidence renewal and such.

Honestly, Jannson not playing is shocking to me. Dillon is only a Freshman so I see him giving it more time. I agree with Beyers.

Any chance of Frampton and/or Johnson still ending up at Marshall?

Don’t dismiss DD’s original #304boys had a winning season in Elmore’s first year with a 17-10 record once he became eligible at the semester, followed by 3 straight 20+ win seasons, 2 conference finals appearances, 1 championship, first ever NCAA win, and a CIT championship=success. NCAA final 32 team had 3 Wva starters and a 6th man. I know it makes people uncomfortable because DD has absolutely refuted the theory that you can’t win D1 basketball with Wva boys. Why? As mentioned by another poster, only one Wva starters on this year squad. Maybe we needed more? I personally think MUBB has more pull to attract good in state kids(and tristate) than out of state. Key is to get the right ones.

It's not that bad. Doc's 2016 was the worst season of Marshall sports I've ever seen, any sport.

Probably not. Yeah, 2016 was a freaking night mare. Frankly, I have been watching Marshall football since the early 70's and all things considered, 2016 was the worst season I have EVER experienced in Marshall sports.

The point is there offen are no “right ones”.

Before he lost his mind, Chuckie used to do columns every year and listed every kid that got a DI scholarship. In basketball, it was like maybe 10.

This is a state of just 1.8M people, and the population bleed has been the most impactful on the working age people. People that make kids. Then you can toss out the EP, where Marshall has no traction. Then even if you add in the immediate tri-state (Boyd, Greenup, Lawrence) and even fudge in some of the further away parts of Ohio and Kentucky, say even as big as everybody who gets the H-C TV stations, you are still well under 2M.

There will be the occasional really great player, who will go to the really great places, once every 10 years or so. Then WVU will get the next level kid. Then there will be the smart kids that go to some highbrow college, and there will be the lower half that go to bus-and-gym leagues that are below CUSA level.

That leaves like 2 players per year that WV/Huntington metro/tri-state produces that are actually good enough to play at Marshall and which Marshall can get. That is pretty thin.

Dwight Freeman - any year? Greg White - most years? Ron Jirsa - any year? Tom Herrion - once he hit the sauce and had his own recruits? (God rest his soul) Sonny Randle (.227/5 years) ? Mark “Suntan Man” Snyder (.379/5 long years of an incompetent AD who refused to fire him) ?

Having three straight 10-win seasons, coming off a recent conference title, and going 3-9 with a returning starting QB, finally finishing the season by losing by 60 at home in a sanctioned, officiated game.

Obviously the worst season ever was 1970, and the decades that followed had plenty of futile efforts, but all of that can be traced back to an external event that derailed the program. What happened in 2016 was unlike anything I'd ever seen - it was like the entire team just disappeared suddenly, and we were somehow left with the worst team any of us had seen since 2007.

Now that you bring it up. All things considered - facilities, funding, support, schedule, etc. 2016 was the worst by far, nothing close.

amen to that

Worst period by far were the late 60s before the crash. Charlie Snyder, Bob Pruett's HC, was finally canned after winning about a third of his games in about 8 seasons or so. Then MU went for the quick fix, ending up with Perry Moss of the Charleston Rockets, who wound up breaking every recruiting rule in the NCAA books. MU ultimately hit with NCAA sanctions and kicked out of the MAC. Meanwhile, on the field the Herd lost 20+ straight football games between 1967-69 and one side of crumbling Fairfield Stadium's stands was condemned!! Now that was some real "bad times" in HERD football, all before the crash!

I carried a note book to class that said “Stop The Streak”

what off court issue for Brooks-Harris?

Beyers had a great roadtrip in TX. Hopefully, we'll see more of that the next few games. Agree...would hate to see him go just as he appears to be making substantial and impressive improvement.

night mare.

with two verbals on the hoops side are we over the limit? Does someone need to transfer out?

yes. at least one needs to leave before completing their eligibility. rumors are that there could be more than one leave early.

Dillon, C B-H, Marco, ???

I guess it's all speculation at this point and the fact that JW and MB are coming on and getting minutes seems to take them off the list but...

JW does graduate this year and he could move on in life or do a graduate transfer and not sit.
JD good kid some speculate he won't see floor here, not sure.
DR some have same questions on him as JD but no one has seen him play a D1 game.
CBH - coaches really like his talent and upside but he has broken rules twice. he could be the one that goes just on rule breaking alone.

other than that I don't see anyone potentially leaving but what do I know. I also understand we are still recruiting so there could be more than one that leaves early.
