Hopefully the football team sees this

When we were 12-1 in 2014 we weren’t exactly happy to play NIU either and they were MAC champs and something like 10-2.

The article is only correct if you go to New Orleans unprepared to kick some LA butts. Yes, Marshall's record does look ugly and like a weak team, but Marshall can and should be able to give LA more than they bargained for if they want to win.

I have faith in Marshall to win this game and to show this article writer that he has been drinking too much "moonshine and swamp water".

We will see, but consider the source, a writer in Lafayette. He probably knows very little about MU. I think we surprise a lot of people, including all five of the College Game Day talking heads who chose UL Lafayette this morning.

This will be the best team we have played all year. They’ve won 12 in a row including beating App twice (the first being a blowout), won a conference much better that CUSA, and are basically playing at home. Taking all of that into consideration, we are the definitive underdog. They are the better team.

Can we win? I think so if we play better than we have in any game this year and if they are a bit disappointed and destructed with all of the coaching changes they’ve had.

If both teams play well I’d say we lose by 14.

We can certainly compete, I firmly believe that we’re better than our 7-5 record.

The premise of the article, however, is that a 12-1 nearly top 15 conference champion, deserves a better opponent than a 7-5 C-USA #3 or #4. That is a very valid point, and an entirely separate discussion.

Again, this is the ULL perspective. No one twist my argument around and think I’m anything but THRILLED about this match-up from our end.

He's right to point out based on record that Louisiana deserves a better bowl. But Lousiana didn't exactly mop the floor with their opponents, several were within 1 score.

I'm not sure an article like this helps bowl attendance as their fans may agree and not show up.
He also needed to be a little more fair in the selective topics for the case against MU. Yeah, MU lost their last 2 bowls but he failed to mention their insane bowl record overall and ability to play mostly up to their opponents caliber.
He also forgot to mention LOUISIANA DOESN'T HAVE A HEAD COACH!

Once more, I get it, he's a homer and you could easily argue in favor of UL, but honestly this is more of, "UL won 12 games in a row, some blowouts, some were close, they lost their HC, MU has struggled their last 2 games but MU lost to the SBC east champion by a point in the first year of a HC eager to have a signature win...we really don't know what to expect."

I hope they read this too. I hope they realize why we're characterized like this. Stop choking away wins and losing championships and you'll get respected. Not sure why anyone has an issue with this article. If the shoe were on the other foot and we were CUSA champs drawing the SBC's 3rd place team there'd be a multiple page thread on every Marshall forum blasting the AD, CUSA, and anyone else we could point fingers at for such a bad draw.

Back when we played #6 K-State, we weren't very good. We played with Graham Gochenaur (sp) and beat them. Anything is possible.

UT (arrrgh!) Stan H - perhaps the only player in college football history to get a career altering leg injury while celebrating a good play. (Maybe white men can't jump)......

That is the football version of “once, from 4th place, we got on an 8 day hot streak, it might happen again some day”.

True, and possible. But my money is on quality recruiting and quality X&O game day coaching.

Football or basketball.
