How come I have a sinking feeling

If we don't play at least one of these next two games we are most likely ineligible to represent the East.

Then, I suggest we all pray for the best outcome for all our opponents health to be able to play when scheduled!
Remember this year does not really count off player eligible status for next year when we will be off this fraudulent planned virus Crap!
Questions still remain.... how good is Marshall??? Nobody wants to give a fair shake because our home winning % is so great!

Football is reaching its tipping point, the question is who has the nuts to kill the cash cow all together and cancel the rest of the season?... The SEC and BIG12 are usually the two loudest voices in the room and I don't see them shutting it down, so my guess is everyone keeps trying to cobble shit together for another five weeks to get through the bowl games.

And even at that, the bowls at this point outside of the playoffs, are going to be a joke. With all teams being eligible, there are going to be some terrible matchups for the sake of TV viewers and advertising dollars. For example, I would bet LSU gets to play in a bowl game despite finishing the year a likely 3-6. Same with other "traditional powers" like Florida State, Nebraska, etc. Their fans will tune in and ESPN knows it, so they will get spots over teams in small conferences with better records.

If we play Saturday against Rice I say the odds are extremely high we play a conference championship game.
Correct.

Word is to be eligible for the CUSA championship game a team must have played no less than two fewer conference games than the average number of conference games played by all CUSA members.

Right now that average number is 4.5. Even if that number creeps up (if there's a full slate of conference games on 12/5 and 12/12) there's no way it will get above seven - which means five conference games will be enough for us.

Hence why MU should actually consider a potential Coastal bowl game.

I've got an idea: let's forfeit Saturday's game before Rice can cancel it, giving us enough games to win the division.

I know that's probably not how any of this works, but none of how this works makes any damn sense. Marshall's problem hasn't been playing games, its been getting C-USA teams to show up for their conference games with us.

If neither of the next two C-USA opponents show up for their games with Marshall, the next game we play should be in court.

I agree with that if Coastal also goes undefeated... Just have to find the right venue since New Orleans is 4 days after the CUSA title game... Mobile or Birmingham would both work, but would take some ESPN negotiating.
Especially since that bowl is contracted to the AAC vs the ACC,
Both leagues will have enough eligible teams to fill their spots since every team is bowl eligible

Contracts are cute, but as we have seen they mean pretty much zilch in 2020... And since ESPN basically owns bowl season outside of the NY6, they can make the necessary moves, like sending Tulane and Wake Forest to New Orleans and opening up a game for two top-25 teams at a date that works.

Selfishly, I am rooting for the Birmingham bowl because its an easy drive for me and its Jan. 1 during the 3-day holiday weekend.

Stupid question: what's to stop Marshall and coastal from scheduling a game with each other, bowl be damned?

Like what is the functional purpose of a bowl game with no fans, except to provide a neutral site?

I don't see any value for our program playing Coastal in a bowl game on their home field.

Bowl contracts will be broken this season and deals made - IF they happen at all. jmo

would love a coastal match up this year if we both win our conferences

If 2020 wasn't already screwed up enough, just the thought of fans wanting to face Coastal or Liberty in a bowl game only miles from the Hollywood Wax Museum in Myrtle Beach kind of takes the cake.

There is no time to do so... unless you mean scheduling a regular non-conference game after the CUSA title game.

Bowl games are good for the kids, the sponsors, the host sites and most importantly (by a mile) ESPN.

Also some of the bowl games will have fans, depending on what state is hosting... Others will be played with no fans, and 4 games have been shuttered all together.
