He is, but he also got denied admission to UNC, so cut him a break.
Going to Southern Miss would be a lateral move, at best. In all honesty, it would probably be more of a slight downgrade.

It's important to note that Britney Spears' niece (Jamie Lynn's daughter), just committed to Southern Miss in softball two days ago. So if Britney and Jamie Lynn ever make up, there is a good chance that the football coach has the opportunity to bag Britney during one of her episodes. And frankly, as weathered and gross as she is currently, being able to have stories about banging Britney Spears is probably worth losing a few more football games than you used to at your previous school.

So Miss is the middle, geographically, of furtile recruiting. And, inspite of the overgeneralizations regarding HS recruiting, HS recruiting is still very important. So the next HC will be in a good spot to recruit second tier talent.
Second, he's be walking into a teardown to the foundation and rebuild with the benefit of learning from his mistakes with the Herd.
And if the $1.5 million is true, that's a lot better pay than he's probably going to secure at Marshall.

He has no guarantee of a job next week. Can’t say I blame him.
We’re also correct to wait and see if he accomplishes what he was brought here to accomplish before we extend.

We still have to hire someone else. Just because we move on from Huff doesn't mean we automatically get better. That doesn't mean moving on is the wrong decision, but this administration still has to make the right hite to do so. Hiring practices since Donnan haven't been that great in either major sport. We just got lucky with Pruett. Pruett was the perfect combination of qualified coach that was a Marshall guy.
What will the search look like? Who will run it? Who will want the job? Can we pay competitively? Don't just assume we're getting back to winning championships just because.
The next HC will have a total rebuild thanks to the portal and will only have 2-3 months to do it. Expecting much from the 2025 season is a fool's errand. You can be cautiously optimistic, but don't expect anything.
If Sammy says it’s a bad move for Huff to leave Marshall to go to SMiss, then we can be assured it will work out well for Huff and SMiss. He will be successful there.
And even Pruett was out the door to Houston…..Elsie is the only thing that prevented that from happening
He coached at CowBell U earlier in his career. Wouldn’t be the first time coaching in Mississippi
I don't know. Buffalo is cold and snowy this time a year. 4 or 5 ft of snow my be a deal breaker.

Actually, yes it does, assuming we get a coach that is actually qualified to be a coach.
Hopefully, it will be run by the AD, and not by a cabal of rogue boosters who are the ones who hired CH.
I have little faith in the AD, but he is the AD. This will be his time to put up or shut up. He deserves to hire his man and their fates will be tied together. If the next coach is, like CH, a failure, then CS needs gone too.
The rogue cabal that went around our previous AD to hire some guy that clearly doesn't have it, needs to learn from their mistakes. You are boosters, not the board of directors of MU Sports, Inc. Sign your checks and STFU.
We are in a total rebuild because of CH, not the portal. I get that. The portal makes renting a washout from the P4 for a final year, easier.
I don't expect to go 12-0 in 25, or even 10-2, but having a team that is actually competitive against teams with a pulse, will be fine for right now.
The CH free future is a very bright future indeed.
