I tell you what, if you don’t get fired up after watching Coach Huff speak, then go root for someone else. I’m pumped up and I’m throwing a little extra into my annual donation to the Big Green. This is an exciting time and I like the energy Coach Huff is already bringing to the program.
If you truly are good at what you do and you're passionate about it then it will show. You can tell this dude is all about it. Being around Saban and being hired by Saban shows you the mentality of Coach Huff. No nonsense, hardworking, and championship or bust.Agreed... Collin Cowherd talked the other day about intro pressers for coaches and he pointed out that the best ones always are prepared, and always know what to say to win the opening press conference with the players and the fans (he was talking about Robert Saleh). It doesn't guarantee success, but its certainly a better indicator than a guy like Josh McDaniel, Matt Patricia, or Adam Gase, etc. who look bad in the opening presser.
Pretty cool the coach from Maryland will have his first game in his home state. After listening to the presser and reading about Coach Huff, I'm all in. This guy is an impressive person. The Marshall football team ought to be pumped and ready to break down brick walls for him. 9/5/21 -Annapolis, Md. - Navy. Tee it up. Go Herd!
True. But, having seen a lot of these transitions, there's a lot that can be learned from the delivery of the coach speak. I think we can all see why he's the "top recruiter in the nation." Nothing worse than interacting with a person who is simply going from their notes. We had the opposite with my middle son whose replacement simply recited the notes he took from the HC he worked under with no personality added. It will make a difference with the players also, and their motivation also. Most of it, which is not a criticism as it is what you are supposed to do. was standard coach-speak.
The big take away is the line of "recruit within 5 hours". Certainly a policy change, and not just from Doc, but back as long as anyone can remember.
Hearing the 5 hour rule of thumb is nothing new. I've heard it before from Pruett and Nehlen. Build your core from there. Most if not all of the speed players will come from the South. Pruett used to get a lot of kids from the DC, MD and VA area and Nehlen from PA.Most of it, which is not a criticism as it is what you are supposed to do. was standard coach-speak.

So draw a circle. You end up with something whose outside edges are Detroit, Indy, Chattanooga, Charlotte, the outside edge of the Swamp, and Cleveland. So, roughly, WV, OH, most IN, western PA, most of KY, half of TN, half of NC, most of VA, most of MD.
We should out recruit the lowly MAC and the rest of the G5 in that circle. We certainly are not taking kids from OSU or the like. The question is the P5 field fillers like WVU, Pitt, UK, Maryland, Louisville, Indiana, and such, and then Cincinnati and ECU.
