Or Huntington vs. Point Pleasant

If these playoff matchups were to happened, How would you feel if they was to be played at the Joan

Huntington/Midland can only happen in Wheeling. Point Pleasant would be insane to give up home field in a quarterfinal against Huntington.

I would personally love it. I think the Midland/Huntington regular season game should be played there every year, but neither team wants to give up home field to make it happen.

What if Marshall gave both schools 10K tickets each to be sold at the school for the game and each schools keeps 100% profit from ticket sales. Marshall keeps the concession sales and parking. Plus any ticket sold at Marshall instead of at the HS, Marshall keeps the proceeds

their argument has been they don't wish to give up home-field advantage.

But I think they would get more people out if they played at the Joan. If both schools are able to get 10K each into the Joan that would be a really good atmosphere

no way both schools could get 10,000 people each.

Pretty sure the idea is an NCAA violation.

In what way? I know that the state championship was played in Morganhole 1989 (my Bridgeport Indians beat Winfield in OT that year). Numerous college fields are the home fields for high schools in all divisions. Are you referring to the money aspect?

It used to be allowed but I'm pretty sure it is no longer permitted. NCAA rulebook too thick for me to check.

In some other States, the State high school championships are played in college stadiums. Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming,

It still is allowed. South Carolina football champ game is played at Williams Brice Stadium. Basketball is played in the USC basketball arena

It permitted to play HS games both regular and post season on campus for football.

Basketball it's only permitted for post season tournaments.

Would be a great idea to have HHS-CMHS play each year at MU. In Cincinnati the St. Xavier-Moeller game is played at UC every year and regularly draws 15-20k, and a couple years has drawn 25k.

FYI--In Tennessee, TSSAA state high school football championships are played at Tennessee Tech University (FCS, Ohio Valley Conf.) Tucker Field. It's 1A-6A classes plus private schools. Few years back, TSSAA Championships were played in MTSU's Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro. From 1970's to early 1990's, it was at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville. Attendance has declined slowly over the years. At Vandy as many as 30,000 for the largest classification (then AAA), 10-12,000 for single A. Murfreesboro it was about half sized (or lower deck only). It's now about 6-8 thousand for large and 2,500-3,000 or so for the small schools. Six classifications over two days have broken the crowds somewhat.

I would think 10,000 for a HHS/ CM game would be about tops, anyone on here have any idea what that game draws?

What about that HHS game that was played at MU?

Rule changed for basketball a couple years ago. Only HS basketball games permitted at campus sites are post season tournament games.

Football however regular and post season games are permitted

I liked it when it was in Louisville. My first trip was in 74 when darrell griffith led Louisville Male to a state title. Sistersville was not the mecca of high school basketball and I had never seen such talent as that first trip to the sweet sixteen. Sixteen regions and no classes. Like the movie Hoosiers you can get a huge school against a small school. Edmonton is the smallest I remember winning. Home of the kentucky headhunters and black stone cherry. Dad's step brother billy ray cassady led Inez to the state title in 54. Billy ray played for Rupp and they won the title beating elgin baylors seattle's team.

As was stated above, Marshall has reached out to both CMHS and HHS and offered the stadium. MU would only keep concessions. Neither school would give up home field. It was also mentioned that the atmosphere would not be nearly as good at the Joan. Fill the HS field and it is great. Put 5-10k in the Joan and it would be dead.

I think there would be a lot more than 10K. This is a city rivalry and it would be an event

If Huntington and Cabell-Midland played in the Joan at about $10 a ticket, there would be a good crowd. From my time in WV, that just might be the biggest rivalry in the state
