Dublin, Oh
Can someone explain how yesterday was a decisive victory for Democrats. I’m lost Terry McAuliffe was the governor of Va he’s as blue as they come and was replaced by a Democrat.

Chris Christie was a governor polling in the teens at the end of his term. Why would anybody think a member of his party would win.

I just think it’s strange that very blue states like NJ VA and Washington are seen as some kind of major accomplishment that Democrats won elections there.

Win in Ohio or Ky or Texas then I would say a mandate is coming. Democrats winning NJ VA and Washington elections is expected it’s not an upset. If you base your chances of Democrats taking the Senate or House from last nights results is probably going to be in for a disappointing night come 2018.

Just my opinion.

You put Ohio in the same group with Kentucky and Texas? Really. Last time I checked Ohio was a swing state and the other two are the farthest thing from.

This is my thought exactly. Democrats won in heavy democrat states. Big shocker. This means nothing.

Last I checked Virginia IS a swing state and was a republican stronghold hold until about 10 years ago. Alternative facts. I get it.

I have been thinking the same thing, it is not like a House/Senate seat swung to the other side.

Virginia is not a swing state and will probably be a heavy democrat lean for years to come, unfortunately.

Totally bullshit statements. The Virginia house of delegates is 66 republicans and 34 Democrats. It is a swing state that the democrats just happened to win in the president race.

Northern Virginia began voting democrat with the explosion of government. The number one employer in Northern Virginia is the government. These people are bureaucrats that fear anything that threatens that money train. 4 of the 8 richest counties in the USA are in Northern Virginia with the number one employer being Uncle Sam. They don’t care about social issues or the middle class. If republicans promoted the idea of expanding government NOVA would go red.
The Virginia Beach area is heavily minority based and is why the politics of race baiting works there. It’s the very reason why Northam was able to paint a pro immigration moderate as a racist that threatened the lives of minority children.
In April 2016 Governor Terry McAuliffe restored the voting rights of 200,000 convicted felons. The reason “Those who have paid their debts to society should be allowed full participation in society,”. For some reason they left out the ability to purchase a gun. Why cherry pick which part of society these recovered citizens can participate in? Oh and by the way Northam won by 230,000 votes.

They can't call BS on these nuggets of truth. However, the deflection will begin soon by the normal key punchers with dormant brain activity.

last I looked the Senate consists of 24 Republicans and 9 Democrats. We have 66 Republicans in the House to 33 Democrats. and a Republican Gov. Last I looked Ohio voted for Trump. Going back to 1856 Ohio has voted for a Republican for Pres 29 times a Democrat 12. Sorry not a swing state, a Republican state

I read the thread title, and thought Cali was announcing he found the exit to the closet and was coming out!

Oh this sounds like Virginia.

because the dems needed a victory, any kind of victory, yesterday . . . you know, the 1 year anniversary of MAGA!!!!!!! so, what better thing to do, take a victory in a state everybody knew they were going to win anyhow and proclaim it some sort of . . . lmmfao . . . upset.

hey, let them have their moment, been a long year for them.

I think you have to look a little deeper into the changes in VA after the election. The 15 House incumbents that were defeated (plus 4 to be determined by runoffs) were all men. 11 of the 15 were replaced by women.

That's a big sea change that could portend the elections next year.

Does this relate to the Women's marches we saw earlier this year?

I saw a sign that said, " Stop marching and start running."

.

Danica Roem made Virginia history last night when she became the state’s first openly transgender person to be elected to the state’s legislature.

Roem, a 33-year-old former journalist, defeated opponent Bob Marshall, a 73-year-old Republican who has described himself as “chief homophobe” and has sat on the state legislature for more than two decades. Roem defeated him by about 15 percentage points, according to exit polls.

Meanwhile, after winning the election, Roem was asked to comment about Marshall and responded with grace.

“I don’t attack my constituents. Bob is my constituent now,” she said.

No NOVA might as well be a soup kitchen for money. Again 5 of the top ten richest counties in the USA are all around Washington DC. The Number one employer in these counties US Government. The laziest pieces of crap workers in the US, Government Employees. Private sector contractors do the real work of the government. I worked gov't contracting and my government counterpart, whom I'm friends with, would ask me at years end to write up all of my accomplishments for the year. She would take that list put her name on it and submit it to her boss for her year end review. Its disgusting to see the money wasted in government and you can't talk to it until you've seen it first hand. Sadly people are getting rich off of government while really contributing very little.

Is that like 38 percent of the working population of WV being on disability instead of working? Just trying to get a basis on this. Is it better to work lazy or not work at all and get paid then go buy your heroin or opiates.

I’m not from Virginia or Wv so I couldn’t care less. So what you are saying is you are ok with almost 40 percent of the population on disability in WV but not ok with people that have jobs but don’t work to their full capacity and pay 40 percent back in taxes. Good stuff WV Fan.

Are people getting rich off of disability? Any county in West Virginia rate in the top 100 richest counties with the top employer being government or gov’t assistance?

How many working poor are out there not receiving any assistance while a bureaucrat gets rich for doing less work?

doesn't matter where you're from, shit-fer-brains, you made the statement.

the post you replied to was about lazy government workers getting rich off the government and doing next to nothing. you're trying to justify their existence by saying, "yeah, well, look at WV's issues!" one has nothing to do with the other. stick to the topic. nobody's okay with WV's disability issues, pisses me off, but that had nothing to do with his point, you dolt. want to talk about WV's disability issues and determine what to do about it? start another thread.

so, what you are saying is you are ok with government employees doing nothing and getting rich from it. typical lib mentality.

No I am very clearly saying worry about your own backyard Mr Glasshouse.

Easy fix for all this.....tax cuts for the wealthy and sit back and wait for the trickle down.

I wonder how in
Easy fix for all this.....tax cuts for the wealthy and sit back and wait for the trickle down.

Your fix is socialism, no thanks. Trying working for your money once in your damn life. Subsidizing you and other dead-weight is costly to the honest tax payer. The rich shouldn't be carrying your ass. Screw the trickle up approach for lazy to become ever more useless.

I despise thieves and lazy people. Parts of WV have become nothing be freeloaders wanting a give-me check each month. Screw them, get off their ass and find a job. Even if it requires moving to where work is available. The easy check seems to be their choice of the two.
