I’m just here

If i were doc I would be so mad about that loss and fire Bill Legg, simple you say thanks buddy it’s been fun but you suck so bad I have to let you go and find someone that knows what there doing, your making me look bad..!

to start a thread to fire Bill Legg... think he heard us chanting at the end of the game?

Marshall doesn't have a lot to offer a new coach.

Their facilities are in the top two in the conference. Other than that, what does Marshall have to offer a talented coach? Salaries are in the middle of the conference. It is in one of the worst recruiting areas in the conference. The weather isn't ideal. Huntington has a reputation as being unsafe with little to offer. The public school education in the state is garbage. The state economy and job prospects for spouses of coaches isn't appealing.

Marshall used to have a tradition of winning, salaries, and a die-hard fan base that appealed to coaches. They don't have any of those things right now, and humiliating a coach's family by having fans chant to fire him during a game sure doesn't help draw interest from a talented coach into taking the position.

It's an opportunity with tremendous upside as the capital improvements have already been done. And there are certainly coaches at smaller programs that deserve a shot.

Cabell County has good schools.

Huntington is no more unsafe than any other city in the Rust Belt. And probably safer than others (there's geographic lines in Louisville I do not cross, I've never had to do that in Huntington).

You've been around plenty of teams, you know that pissed off fans are the norm, not the exception. Bama fans would run Saban out of town if he had a shitty streak.

Me thinks Yags is going to toe the line to keep his options open. He knows the HC position is one he would take if offered.

Doesnt matter, look in the stands, half the fan base is fed up. This conglomerate of kids isn't the right mix. The coaches isn't that right mix. Yeah we are bowling, but no one cares due to how the second half of the season went. Might as well stay home during bowl season. The whole side of offense is an issue, from play calling to coaching up the kids in pretty much every position. There isn't one we excel at. The defense has issues, but is workable, unlike the offense. Yep, I just threw them under the bus, the whole lot of them. Hell with Snyder we knew we would lose, especially in close games. Doc had us believing since 2013, basically 3 decent seasons, now we are experiencing retardism like we did under Snyder, oh well. Won't catch me wasting anymore time as long as changes are not made.

Gosh, sounds like we should just give up and drop foootball.

This is the same coaching staff that had Devon Johnson at TE for two years, moved Ryan Bee inside and kept Hyleck Foster on the bench all year. I can go on and on, not to mention the attrition. I don't trust them to actually evaluate and develop X.

Yeah, because that definitely sounds exactly like my persona.

There are plenty of coaches who would jump at the chance to be the head coach at Marshall. There are just as many who would lose interest if they witnessed 4000 of the 8000 fans in the stands chanting to fire a coach.

The point is that Marshall isn't a hot spot for coaches even at the G5 level. There are tons of Mountain West, C-USA, AAC, and even some Sun Belt spots which would be more appealing for a head coaching spot than Marshall. Fans acting like morons doesn't help that case. Chanting for an assistant coach to be fired is as classless as an interim AD firing a coach as he walks off of the field . . . or while he is on the tarmac after a game.

Really you dont think Litton is one of the problems? Problem #1: our offensive line is not strong enough to battle with bigger D lineman like UTSA and not quick enough to handle the smaller quicker D lines like USM. Problem #2: Litton while not under pressure threw into triple coverage for one interception and threw into double coverage multiple times but was fortunate not to get picked off. He has been doing that consistently last 6 games. If you believe that he is just executing the play that Legg calls than he's worse than we all think because he is not recognizing defenses and/or not changing the play on the line. At this stage of his career he should be capable of this and if he's not he shouldn't be starting. That's all about coaching. We were at their 30 yard line 3x and came away with no points. Punted twice and had a field goal blocked. Problem 3#; place kicking. How many field goals have been blocked this year and how many poor snaps have we had. I can count 5 poor snaps and 3 blocked kicks. The talent in CUSA is very close and the place kicking game is essential in these close games. We are excellent on punts and kickoff coverage and returns but place kicking has been terrible the last two years. Our field goal kicker was 9/14, 62% going into this game, USM 17/19 going into this game. I don't know how many extra points he's missed. He just barely made the extra point last week to give us the brief lead. Nothing has been done to improve this aspect of our special teams, which is the only part of special teams whose sole job is to generate points. Again that's coaching.

It's a frustrating year because we were in just about every game even when we fell behind FIU 35-7. But the same mistakes keep occuring and for all the quotes like " the problems are correctable" we haven't found a way to correct them and they have cost us games.

At one point we had coaches who moved on to Kansas St, Navy, Georgia, and Pruett could have went to Houston.. So there was a upward path. Marshall at least has a tradition unlike many of the conference schools. Pay is decent and there are some nice perks for a popular coach in Huntington.

I don't buy all the excuses.

Yes, at one point. Marshall doesn't average 28,000 fans per game anymore. That "upward point" is just as easy, if not easier, for coaches to make at numerous other G5 schools.

Would a coach rather make $1 million and live/recruit in Boca Raton or $750,000 and live/recruit in Huntington? $900,000 in San Antonio? $1 million in the Dallas metroplex with nice facilities? $800,000 in a Nashville suburb? Recruiting and living in those places is far better than doing that in Huntington. And that's only in C-USA. It is even better in many AAC and MWC schools . . . and even some Sun Belt schools.

Again, there are plenty of coaches who would love to coach at Marshall. But it isn't a marquee spot to be even among G5 schools. Having fans act like that toward an assistant coach makes it worse.

I get what you are saying. the florida schools are going to pay more and name guys like Kiffin and Davis are going to garner more $$ based on their name and history.

But, we can go get you and upcoming coaches. We've done it before and our attendance is down mainly due to the anemic boring coach we have and we are mired in mediocrity.

Doc is at 800 large. That is a pretty nice salary in Huntington and there are only so many D1 jobs available.

What do we offer a coach? A chance to move up or exposure to find a nice job. A 5 year deal likely at 800 large. We can find guys out there. Come in win some games and some championships and you can get a nice job.

If Marshall's situation is that dire then they need to move back to FCS and call it a day.

Simple fact is there are 128 offensive and defensive co-ordinators currently at the G5 level that would at least consider, and many beg for, the Marshall HC position. There are probably no less than 30 P5 co-ordinators that would consider the job. On top of that, you have another 20-30 FCS coaches that would consider it.

Bottom line is that there are only 130 FBS head coaching positions available and hundreds and hundreds of people who are qualified, on varying levels, and want one of those jobs.

I hope YAGs will add me to the staff. I have experience with cheerleaders so I volunteer to coach them. We'll only have females, and tryouts will be at my house three times a week.

Litton was not the problem tonight... If Gaines were ready he would be playing, hes not.
Litton has the option to hand the ball off or pass on most plays based on his read. He has as much physical talent as any QB we’ve had. His ability to read defenses is horrible especially post snap.

You want to compare homes in Boca vs Huntington at that salary? Or Nashville, which has gone crazy with the housing market? Quality of location, of course I will give you that.
