I miss the days when we had something to actually talk about during fall camp. Currently we have 48 new players on campus. I have no idea if any of them will help out immediately or not. How is the QB situation? I would love to have a report from Aaron or Chris or even Chuck Landon to keep me going. Who is turning heads? Who has made progress since last season ended. What positions are they battling out. In the past by now I would be stoked and couldn't wait for game 1. Currently I will put a reminder on my calendar to not forget to drive to Huntington for the first game

I 100% agree. I don't understand the logic in keeping the press out. This is the least excited I have seen the area about Herd football in many years. The desire for secrecy to prepare for Norfolk State and Bowling Green is not worth it. We are not Alabama, we only have so many fans and we got to promote the heck out of our team all summer camp to drum up tickets sales.

if this makes you feel any better hardly any of that preseason chatter ever amounts to anything. It's fun to read, but I lost count of how many times we've read about the WR group looking like they're going to have a breakout year or this guy or that guy and then nothing.

If anything not hearing anything is good. You can go into game one without any preconceived expectations. It should be even more exciting because this is the first tast of Marshall football that you've gotten since spring. It's also not like we have to wait much longer. The first game is Sept 3rd which is only 3 more Saturdays.

Colombi is the solid starter, completing 24 of 25 for 436 yards and 3 TDs just in todays full on drills, Ali seen minimal playing time as he is solid and don’t need lots of reps, Laborn has seen a lot of reps and can break tackles. I know they have been tryin to fine tune this well built machine but seeing the offense get out there and move the down marker at will is exciting.. seeing a full Oline rotation tells a lot about how deep we are and getting guys reps will only help on the front line.. special teams are a thing of beauty, Kickoff team is solid, punt team solid, field goal solid and extra point team needs work. Defense is defense, they looked great until Colombi showed up and is picking them apart, seeing our wideouts making every catch and only had one tipped pass is awesome. Linebackers are tough up the middle but a bit slow to cover the pass, middle Dline is a road block but not big on the pass rush. All in all wish what I wrote was true but I can dream..

Good practice today !!!

Bright side of hearing nothing -- No one has been arrested, seriously injured, etc.

But I agree as a whole... Theres no reason to keep the local media out. I don't think any position battles being written about in the HD or getting a 2-minute segment on WSAZ are going to make or break our season. Anyone who was around and watched the team last year understands a few basic premises... Ali is really good. The O-line is a rebuild project this year and is a huge key to the offense as a whole. Columbi will be under center for the start of the season. Etc.

Well we can count on Chuck Landon not writing anything positive about Marshall football, not sure if Huff pissed him off or what but he never says anything positive about the football program. Compared to DD, where the man walks on water.

The guys over at the ThunderCast have been doing position group breakdowns that might scratch that itch a little. However, preseason chatter is just that...chatter

Exactly.

All the preseason stuff doesn't play out nearly to what we see.
Idiots like Chuck Landon also create doubt or inaccurate reports in order to stir up some pot, but all it does is result in people having excuses to not show up or (as you alluded to) go into a game with a pessimistic viewpoint.

But if you must get your Marshall preseason fix, I suggest this site:

They do a very good job breaking down the team and showcasing strengths and weaknesses. They also preview every game about a week before with matchups and why each team will win as well as predictions of scores/outcomes, etc.

Plus, they do show MU some love for the most part.

If he ever uses that phrase, I'll know that snake stole it from me, lol.
