I really don't like....

...looking at pix of fans I don't know on the scoreboard instead of the replay of the previous play. Especially if it's a controversial call.

TOTALLY agree. Can we contact someone about that? Some of the fan shots are fun but it's like constant for the entire game! We want replays! That's the main point of the video screen!

This is the new trend. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and so forth. Social media can go places and tell the Marshall story we can't afford to buy. They may need to balance it out some but trust me if 38000 fans tweet or post pics on FB the reach could be in the tens of millions. I had a pic of my wife and me and had over 200 likes from people all over the place.

I don't think 30 seconds to show a replay from a key call (and there were several) is too much to ask...

There are conference rules about replays of bad calls.

But if you travel around, you can see different stuff other places do with their boards. A lot will show last week's NFL (and CFL) highlights and show tomorrow's schedule. Some have several cheers on the boards. Lots sell a lot more ads than we do. A lot show actual highlights of minor sports. Different things you can do.

The people you're getting likes from are on Instagram, viewing it through the hashtag, not when it shows up on a board in a stadium. That's the whole fallacy of this stupid, stupid idea - there's already a place where your Instagram posts are broadcast to every Instagram user in the world. It's called Instagram.

That may be true for Instagram, I don't use it. But it is certainly not true for social media in general. If people 3 hours after the game see a post about Marshall and it goes out all over the nation or region that is a positive for Marshall football. I assure you there is a reason why business want to have a presence on social media.

I like the picture idea, before the game and sparingly through the game (halftime, in between quarters etc) but it sounds like yesterday it was after plays. And that is a terrible idea

That's exactly the point he was making. He's saying, if someone posts something on social media (whether instagram or twitter or anything else), it goes out all over the world regardless of whether it gets shown on the video board in the stadium during the game. In other words, it doesn't help spread anything by using up all that time on the video board. If you got 200 likes on a photo from the game, that's awesome but it wasn't because it was shown on the video board in the stadium

Also, a lot of it has nothing to do with social media. A lot of the fan cam stuff is just those times when they try to get people to dance, or do Marco's sweetheart, or things like that.

I think it's good that we try to appeal to millenials (I'm one of them) who like social media. But whoever is in charge of the video board should have some game awareness and maybe, just maybe, show replays of big plays (not controversial plays that are being reviewed, but just big plays) a few times a game. I don't think they show any replays anymore.

One of the cool things that happened in the video of Aaron Dobson's "the catch" a few years ago is hearing the crowd reaction to the replay.

I have no problem with showing pics from social media - it's here & it's not going away. But not showing replays to the crowd, especially if it is something that should be in our favor is ridiculous. The referees know exactly what is going on if the crowd starts booing during a replay. It got to the point very quickly yesterday where I didn't expect to see a disputed call on the video board at all.

I guess my ego is too small.....I don't care if people all over the world see a picture of me or not.
