If I'm the owner of the Atlanta Falcons....

I know who I would pick up in next years draft......W Ky's QB.

Matt Ryan is good but.....

so you'd draft a skinny, 24 year old, with a history of injuries. that's brilliant right there.

brandon doughty is a REALLY good college quarterback, but he's already reached his ceiling.

I have to admit, you are the goofiest little poster on this message board. It really doesn't matter the topic, you usually have a take on the subject that's so far outside the box it defies logic.

I will say this. What you lack in logic or coherent thought, you more than make up for in enthusiasm, passion and originality. Keep them coming...your posts always make me smile. :)

Atlanta Falcons diehard here. Matty isn't even close to the problem. In no particular order:

- No pass rush. Better than last year but still awful.

- rookie HC. Quinn will get better.

- shaky O-Line. Most of the guys that started last year were cut this year. Complete overhaul outside of Matthews.

- we only have one decent receiver. Roddy got old fast, Hankerson is dropping 18% of his targets, and Tamme isn't a replacement for Tony G. Hardy and Williams haven't excelled in the slot.

- play calling. Matty works best in no huddle with plenty of bootlegs. We used those in the first 5 games and we were 5-0. Shanahan tinkered with the play calling and now the fan base is calling for his head.

This is a team that still has a lot of improvements to make but Matty isn't the issue by a long shot.

The 2 observations above are some of the main issues....I don't think Matt is very comfortable with the current roll out scheme adjustments installed by Kyle Shanahan.. If you recall Shanahan was hired before Quinn was, not saying Quinn wasn't in the loop, because I think the Falcons had a very good idea who they wanted as their next HC even before Mike Smith was let go, but I wonder if Quinn will mandate a scheme change? Plus a good example of head scratching play calling came late in the game yesterday, it was 4th and 1 and you run an empty backfield play out of the shotgun formation... The end result was a sack fumble on the Falcons side of the 50... game over at that point.

Yup I'll take Brandon D all day long. I bet he goes late 2nd round, he's got the IT factor as Holliday says. He's far from peaked. Great young QB.

Jocksnif if I'm goofy by your standards that's pretty goofed. Thank God I have yet to burn one couch! Go Eers! Now feel better? Ugh. Play ball or go away.

Ryan is not helping the birds. 80 yards of hard earned turf for an INT does not a successful QB make. How many times did he do it yesterday?

Yes pass rush is suspect, but you can't tell me Ryan is leading this team into wins....he's turning it over at critical times.

So your a die hard birds fan, did you ante up your $45,000.00 per seat between the 40s yet???? Inquiring minds want to know!

When I hear our fan base complain about our ticket prices I don't know if I should laugh or get upset.

If you're drafting a QB in the 2016 draft, you pick Hackenberg or Goff. Unless they both decide to come back for their senior year because of the teams projected to pick early.

Lol, um no to Doc as hc of a pro team....

I think it will be interesting to watch what Brandon does. I see Casey Keenum has been bounced around but did have some injuries , but I liked him too after sitting on a cloudy day in UHs stadium throwing at will on our d backs.

Kid can sling it that's for certain.

As for Ryan he had a bad day yesterday. Having watched the Foul cons piddle for decades, it gets a little old.,

I do love our new HC.

He'll go in the 1st rd to Cleveland.;)

I was making a joke...
Doughty Is a project of two things: his offense and the fact that he's been in college for 9 1/2 years. I don't see him doing anything in the pros behind being a career backup. I could be wrong, and maybe he will be drafted high, but I see him more as a product of the air raid... Plus, I really just don't like the cocky little prick haha

I actually think Doughty is darn pretty good, and the best thing that could happen to him is to be drafted by a team with an established QB that is a few years from calling it quits. Like Dallas or Arizona . Learn the pro position behind a seasoned QB

Hogan from Stanford looks to be the best pro prospect but I agree on Goff, I think Goff will be up high on most boards at QB.

He would be an awful fit for the Dallas offense, and I just don't see him as the type of QB that you would build a franchise around. Dallas is more likely to draft a QB like Hogan or Goff than Doughty.

Not to rub salt in the wound of the guy that said it wasn't Ryan's fault but how did the game end AGAIN last Sunday?

You may be correct on the other QBs but I do see Doughtry being a very capable NFL qb, and going late 2nd or early 3 red round.

It's a QB driven league and imo he's got the swagger to pull it off.

Time will tell. If Ryan throws one more game ending INT I'm noting it again!

I mean, again, he's got one legitimate receiver to try and force the ball to. Hankerson dropped 20% of his targets. That isn't an exaggeration. 20%. I'm not saying Matty is blameless - he has to be smarter with the ball - but the team has a LOT more problems than a guy that has shown he can be legitimately great.

No one specifically said it "wasn't his fault". Myself (and several others) just pointed out that he's not your main problem. And he's not.

As for Doughty
Brandon Doughty, QB, Western Kentucky
Height: 6-3. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 4.86.
Projected Round (2016): 6-FA.
12/10/15: Doughty has some vocal fan supporters based off his production and video-game stat line, but in speaking with sources, they haven't mentioned Doughty as a pro prospect who they're impressed with. In 2015, the senior has completed 72 percent of his passes for 4,594 yards with 45 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Doughty completed 68 percent of his passes in 2014 for 4,830 yards with 49 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

We will see but cook is the best game manager coming out and is already part of a pro style offense. I suppose it depends on which "expert" you choose to side with. I'd take Cook over any of the Qb's coming out.

One thing I noticed about him during both our game and the USM game is that every time he had even a little pressure or the play collapsed he was very inaccurate. He is very accurate when he has time and no pressure but to be a successful QB in the NFL you have to be able to make all the passes regardless of what happens after the ball is snapped.

Well since I started this thread the Falcons QB threw 2 MORE game ending and game losing interceptions. To his defense the d- back that got this one said he knew exactly what the routes were going to be and he jumped the route, as did the LAST dback in the game before.

Still I have to say, dirty birds need somebody at QB that can read that they are reading him, and call an audible.

We draft at 17th position and can't waste that on a QB....

Maybe but that QB is not Brandon Doughty.
