Figured this is a better spot. Anybody worried about this Herd game in Texas this weekend?

Rice is 0-8, but they have been very competitive in almost every game this year. I think they need to play very well on both sides of the ball, if they want to come back to WV with a win. I just wish they could somehow put these games away when they have a nice lead, but they tend to make mistakes that allows the opponent back in. You can't do that on the road against a team wanting to get that first win. If you get a team down, you got to stomp on their neck.

I believe the Herd will be up for the challenge and succeed.

Last week, the QB played extremely well IMO, but we had too many dropped passes...reminded me of Byron Leftwich in that regard. Hopefully, we can get both executing next week.

#80, a freshman, dropped a couple, but showed skill in getting open....I believe we have a good one here.

Knox is looking very good as well as our o line.

The only thing in Rice's favor is the TX mojo against to the Herd.

Surely, we will not shit the bed against an 0-8 Rice team.

Hello? Do you know who our head coach is?

In all seriousness, someone is going to eventually lose to them. Just like an undefeated record, a winless one will go down. I worry this is a trap game, and I've always hated that term.

If we lose this game, I think I might really get pissed.

Remember when we went to Rice and totally shit the bed in the Conference Championship game?

Texas is John's kryptonite. Well, that and any team with a competent head coach.

If we shit the bed, I am personally requesting a meeting with Hamrick and Jerome Gilbert. They will have to meet me with since I am a moderator. There is no way that this team with a division on the line can shit the bed against and 0-8 team. That would be beyond shitting in the bed.

If we lose to Rice I will craft a banner and it will be hung on the shewey building before the team returns from Texas. On second thought, I need to put it on private property to make sure the university doesn't just tear it down.

On third thought, there is an electronic billboard across the street from the building on the north side of third avenue. Who's up for donating to buy ad time if the unthinkable happens?

I am in, but it is incomprehensible that we would lose this game.

Hopefully it won't come to that, but I will go ahead and check rates and see if there are any restrictions.

I'm thinking something like a Kelly green background, with white letters. A simple message like "Sorry, the Doctor is out. Time for a change."

You guys are starting to cause me some concern here. This is a team that is 0-8 we are playing. We are in position to win the division. I mean you have to be laser focused and go down there with a championship mindset. Get up early on a team like that and put them away by half time.

Well, John promised us the most prepared, most invested team in the country when he signed on. Said he had a plan and it was infallible. I have , on occasion, noticed that Marshall isn't always the most prepared, most invested team in their game, let alone in the country. I remember that disgusting 9-7 loss to UTSA a few years ago.

With John I take nothing for granted.

damn, do you guys remember the excitement of hiring a coach from the WVU ranks that was going to take the herd program to the promised land? do you guys remember being all giddy that the herd stole, according to herd fans (and nobody else), "WVU's head football coach in waiting"?

i do.

Me either. But, there is no way he could screw this particular game up. You cannot lose this game.

Losing this game should be a termination.

Fuuuck youuu. We were excited to have someone, anyone, take over who wasn't Mark motha****in Snyder. After sitting through the Snyder years, I didn't care if Satan took over as long as the bastard knew how to win.

while dana may not have been the "big things are coming" answer, i still honestly believe it'd have been much worse under bill, as much as i liked him as a person.

and, while marshla is still chugging along with the WVU life-long assistant as their head coach, WVU has already figured out they had a failure and moved along (cue the "dana moved on" chants). marshla should take notes.

Yep, Neal will build you guys up to be a perennial 3rd place finisher in the B12 yearly. Compared to Dana who could never get you past 4-5th

apparently, you've more faith in WVU's new found place in the big 12 than i. congrats on your WVU fandom.

Not this guy. My first thought was if a guy has been doing a job for 30 years and never even been promoted to the level of defensive or offensive coordinator, let alone never getting the opportunity to be the main guy, what makes Hamrick think he has the chops for it? Nehlen had him for years and didn't trust him with even a coordinator job. So he tried his luck at NC State and Florida. Neither of those head coaches thought he was worth it either. Even Bill Stewart knew he couldn't do it.

Doc was the definition of a Peter Principle hire. He finally found someone willing to promote him to a level of incompetence.

Hamrick's dad was a big supporter/follower/donor to wvu football and became pretty close to Doc. Hamrick's dad pleaded with his son to hire Doc.

Hamrick wanted to hire Doc at a previous coaching stop, but every other single person on the selection committee voted against Doc. Doc will have to utterly fvck up to ever be let go by Hamrick, as it would validate everyone else's opinion of not wanting Doc.
