Entering the United States illegally is a felony, you know, a real crime. That's why Obama deported so many people and took children from their parents at the border.

Oddly enough, just being here illegally is not a crime. Let's say you overstay your visa, that's a civil matter and not a criminal one.

Raoul said re-entry after being deported is a felony, and I don't even believe that is true. I believe it is similar to DUI laws in some states where you have to have been convicted twice of the misdemeanor, and then the third illegal entry is a felony.
There's some legal question as to if "deported" and "removed" are the same thing, but basically DOJ can nail you for two years in prison if you come back within 5 years. A two year sentence in federal court is by definition for a felony under Title 18.
Now, if you come back because you were deported for committing a felony or being a consistent misdemeanor machine you can get 10 to 20 depending on the circumstances.

We do, but there are bigger fish to fry than going after Jose that is working 14 hour days in construction. I thought you guys were for smaller government? Mexicans are in Iowa for work on farms. Mostly hog farms. Not many white people want to work on hog farms but by god they love to smoke their ribs and pork butt every weekend.
There are entire counties in Iowa that have been overtaken by Mexicans. In this case the farmer says he properly vetted this individual through e verify which is the law.

I absolutely agree with this. I also know that for political reasons neither party has allowed enough temp farm worker permits/visas, so no shit illegals then have to fill the rest of the void. We have winked and nodded about this for decades. This here was rich Republican farmers doing it. It's not a party issue. I will tell you this though: legal or illegal, without these workers a lot of you people will not be eating very well.

I have actually entered a small diner in southern Ohio in the morning to find several local tomato farmers watching Fox News while eating breakfast and yelling at the tv about "making America great again." These same farmers are employing migrant workers.
