Having landed in Taiwan amid soaring tensions with China’s military, the US House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, defended her controversial trip to the self-ruling island, saying she was making clear that American leaders “never give in to autocrats” in an opinion piece published in the Washington Post.

“We cannot stand by as [China] proceeds to threaten Taiwan – and democracy itself,” said Pelosi’s piece, published just as the veteran California congresswoman’s plane touched down on Tuesday. “Indeed, we take this trip at a time when the world faces a choice between autocracy and democracy.”

Am I the only one who thinks those comments are hypocritical? In light of what's going on in America today?

Hey, Nancy how about autocracy through democracy?

Hypocrisy: con's stance on China and Russia with Pelosi as opposed to the con's stance under your orange jesus who bragged about both Putin and Xi.

Don't much care for Speaker Pelosi, but her going to Taiwan after the president announced her visit (which was stupid to put her in that kind of position for a president to do) was the right thing to do.

China, or any other country does not give direction to what our leaders do. Just like we should not give direction to what other country leaders do. as far as visiting other countries that are aligned in a similar way. If China leaders want to visit N Korea or Iran that is their prerogative and we have no say in it.

For the first time I give 5 thumbs up to Speaker Pelosi. She did the right thing (for once).
