Interesting convo I had with a White co-worker yesterday at Work

Conversation was about Trump and this past weekend.

I asked him straight up "Why does White people hold the confederate history to such a high standard that they are willing to die for it" Mind you this is a white dude from Alabama.

His response "It is the last piece of white dominance that some whites feel they need to hold on to."

He then went on to say most of the racist white dudes from his hometown are mostly redneck drug Addicts who feel their lives are shitty because of minorities and not the generations of shitty living by their own family. He then went on about why he left Alabama and moved here, in which I told him "I hate it here."

So my question for the board is this Why are whites afraid of Minorities? And also Why do whites hold on to confederate history and sometimes praise it?

I didn't say dead...I said largely dead....meaning sure, there is small minority of racism in the white community...I'd say by far more racism coming from the African American community toward other races.

I'll agree with you that racism and prejudice is real. But on a daily basis the vast majority of white folks try to do the right thing. We treat people with kindness and respect. Assholes are gonna asshole, there is no changing that. Assholes will find a reason to be an asshole, they don't need skin color for that

And the Confederacy is romanticized because we romanticize war. That's a reason some of this monument stuff is pissing me off: any monument put in place by Confederate widows (and some of them were) need to be left alone. Those ladies knew the price of war. They also knew Lincoln called for us to honor the dead, reunite, and move on.

Honestly, I've never had an issue all the time I been to Mexico and have been treated with the upmost respect. I've been to Tijuana like 5 times, Cancun, Mexico City, Puebla, and a little village called Huaquchula which is deep in Central Mexico.

That is incorrect, by a very long shot. While the total numbers of whites killed by whites is similar to the number of blacks killed by blacks, when you look at the population of each race it becomes apparent that a black male is 4 times more likely to kill another black than a white male is to kill another white. A black woman is about 12 times more likely to kill a black person than a white woman is to kill a white person.
