Interesting evening

My brother was inducted into the St. Albans High School HOF this evening and one of the inductees I never knew was a St. Albans grad. Joe Chrest graduated from SAHS in 1981 and attended Marshall Unversity and got a degree in Fine Arts in Acting and Directing then got a full scholarship to LSU where he got a Masters in Performance Art. He’s been in over 100 films and tv shows and currently plays the character of Ted Wheeler in Netflix’s Stranger Things where he won a SAGA. He’s been in Hunger Games, Antman, 21 Jump Street, True Detective, and a whole host of other shows and movies.

I honestly never heard of him, but I know his part from Stranger Things. I never heard his named mentioned with Marshall or SAHS until tonight.


A couple of other Marshall ties being inducted tonight...


*Adam Williams...former Marshall basketball player and transfer from UK.
*John Wehrle...played soccer and football at Marshall (was on the 2000-2001 Motor City Bowl team). He then kicked around several indoor and arena teams for the next several years.


On a side note...my brother, along with Tex Williams are the only two SAHS products to be inducted in both SA’s and Marshall’s HOF.

He’s such a good person. A lot of people don’t know that he coached three straight state championships at SAHS in cross country. He was extremely motivating and touched a lot of lives. I know he’s getting old, but he worked the room with so much energy tonight. Still a lot of life in him.

Big fan of Tex. He can tell great stories. I watched the Akron game where Leftwich got carried down the field with Tex.
