When was fan day?He was at fan day and currently listed on the roster.
What would lead you to believe that he wasn’t still with the team?
I was told that by somebody who would know. Hear it is old school vs new school. maybe they are trying to resolve the issue or not. What would lead you to believe that he wasn’t still with the team?
He had a personality conflict with the OL Coach and decided to quit football. He was with the 1s at the time so it is not a playing time issue. In Huff's press conference after the scrimmage Saturday, he talked about all of the linemen that they were trying at different positions, and basically read off the names of every lineman on the roster, except Ross.
Without knowing too much about the situation, it sounds like a kid transferring in with a promise to start, then finding out he has to fight for his spot, and losing it because of a negative reaction to competition.
We run into this a lot with players who transfer down to MU after starting games for a P5 school. Everybody was saying he'd be a fitting replacement for Cain Madden, but unless they're here by force (like Josh Ball coming here because FSU threw him out), you have to wait and see if they even make the two-deep.
I heard the coach asked him to work harder, so was that the conflict? He had a personality conflict with the OL Coach and decided to quit football. He was with the 1s at the time so it is not a playing time issue.
Not exactly.I heard the coach asked him to work harder, so was that the conflict?
I'm not at liberty to say exactly but basically Ross didn't appreciate how he was being "spoken" to and decided it wasn't worth it since he has a degree already and has no aspirations of turning pro.then what exactly is the conflict??
then what exactly is the conflict??
what a joke! good to know now and not in the middle of game, when the going gets tough.I'm not at liberty to say exactly but basically Ross didn't appreciate how he was being "spoken" to and decided it wasn't worth it since he has a degree already and has no aspirations of turning pro.
sounds like when the going gets tough, he got gone!Yeah, I’m not real sure that’s “free” board material much less “pay” board.
I think it's unfair to assume anything further, including who is at fault here, if anyone is. We don't know the exact context or details of the incident. I only replied originally because he was being accused of not being a hard worker, which I understand is not the case at all and I didn't think it was fair to rush to label him negatively.what a joke! good to know now and not in the middle of game, when the going gets tough.
there's only 1 reason a coach 'speaks' to a player, and thats because the player isnt doing what he is coached to do.
if you are not here, your are there, and there is not where you are supposed to be, so you better be here. simple.
This entire generation is soft.what a joke! good to know now and not in the middle of game, when the going gets tough.

Youth sports coach here: not true. There are soft kids, just like there were when I was a kid, and when you were a kid. There's also some real bangers out there, and those kids will run the world when I'm on my inevitable morphine drip. This entire generation is soft.
It was posted as a question because I didn’t know if it was true. I was hoping it wasn’t I too saw his name still on the roster so I thought I had bad information, that I thought I would verify before I said moreSo this thread was posted as a question but the poster already knew the answer? smh
As of now he's still list on the herdzone.com roster
I think he’s butt hurtOn another Herd site someone posted that Ross suffered an injury and that he is finished playing football as a result. Anyone know anything about this?

He mentioned in the HD story today that his recent concussion was a factor of ending his career. So I guess the poster on the other board was somewhat correctWell, your first mistake was visiting another site.
Thank you. Sometimes Coach Stowers may not know everything. He mentioned in the HD story today that his recent concussion was a factor of ending his career. So I guess the poster on the other board was somewhat correct

not really, Bayou Boiler pretty much hits it on the head. instead of using the concussion excuse, which isnt what happened, why not man up and say, I've lost my desire to play football, so its in everyone best interest, Marshall, my teammates and me for me to just retire at this point.it looks like the poster on the other board simply quoted the information provided in the Herald dispatch which is more info on the subject than one can find here.
So you are saying he was lying about a concussion? Concussions are nothing to mess with.not really, Bayou Boiler pretty much hits it on the head. instead of using the concussion excuse, which isnt what happened, why not man up and say, I've lost my desire to play football, so its in everyone best interest, Marshall, my teammates and me for me to just retire at this point.
yes really.....you might want to work on your reading and comprehension. I'm not opining on Ross using excuses or not, or anything else about Ross. simply pointing to the fact that poster referenced the HD quote. Ross is gone, makes no difference to me what the reason is or if we know all the details or if he is lying about the reason.not really, Bayou Boiler pretty much hits it on the head. instead of using the concussion excuse, which isnt what happened, why not man up and say, I've lost my desire to play football, so its in everyone best interest, Marshall, my teammates and me for me to just retire at this point.
Both can be true. He could have gotten a concussion and lost his desire to play.not really, Bayou Boiler pretty much hits it on the head. instead of using the concussion excuse, which isnt what happened, why not man up and say, I've lost my desire to play football, so its in everyone best interest, Marshall, my teammates and me for me to just retire at this point.
And it could also be true that the concussion occurred in the spring before he came to Marshall. The bottom line is, for whatever reason, he chose to give up the game. That's his prerogative, whatever his reason. Both can be true. He could have gotten a concussion and lost his desire to play.
