Is it time to start Garret Morrell ?

I say start garret, fire bill legg and run a new style offense like under center with Anderson at full back and pitman at tailback that also gives more blocker on passing situations..

Tim how do we know Morrell shows promise when Doc won't play anyone other than Litton no matter how bad we are getting our fannies kicked? I'm asking because we've got kids whose redshirts ought to be burned and let them play. This season is over and we all know that. These guys have lost there desire to even play other than go through the motions.

im still upset he pushed out the door. Birdsongs legs would really help this team. Also, a senior leader

Just curious why you are recommending burning Red Shirts when the season is over?

Paherd no reason to keep redshirts that certainly are bound to be helpful. I'm not a fan of redshirting players who can play and make an impact when we need them the most. Who knows, some may decide to leave the team because they don't get to play. Just saying play them now and perhaps not loose them. Redshirt them now and perhaps a new coach wont be interested in them.

Thanks!

Give them experience now so they can start fast in 2017. Start him without much playing time in 2017 and you are looking at an 0 for September start next fall.

Once he got adjusted, I thought Morrell looked pretty good in the second half of the Louisville game. Also took them right down the field in the series he played last night -- at least he connected long over the middle. I say play for next year. If Litton can get himself straightened out...he'll still have a chance to win his job back.

Since the concussion in Akron game, Litton has become like a scared rabbit. He locks on a receiver and throws as soon as possible so he won't take a hit.

Give Morrell a chance .... this may also set a fire under Litton.

Agree 100% Morrell started to get some rhythm with the offense and showed some promise. I recall many of us proclaiming (at that time) immediately after the game that if Chase had been playing we would have won. LOL! Little did we know the score would have been way lower had Chase played the entire game.

Where is Gaines? Did he make it in? He is listed on the roster but sometimes those things are deceiving.

Well whatever the hell is wrong for goodness sakes Doc play another QB. The fair haired Litton ain't gettin it done this year.

Play Morrell and play for the future. Treat the remaining games as your bowl games and play a ton of kids to gain experience and see who really wants to be here. We have nothing to lose at this point and certainly nothing to gain by staying with the status quo. It is now time to prep for 2017 and beyond.

If our scheme remains the same.....I believe our starting QB next year will be either a True Freshman or a Redshirt Freshman.

you want to do that this week? install a totally different and new style of offense in one week.

Burning redshirts in this waste of a season is absolutely the thing we should not be doing. probably the worst thing we can do.

Discussion of burning a RS with 3 games left in a losing season is about the dumbest thing I have read on here in a long time. Three meaningless games as a teenage boy vs. a season by a man four years from now? Ridiculous.

As to the QB, I hope next year's QB is not currently enrolled at MU. We need to be on top of the grad transfer market this winter. CL must understand that he will be a mop up guy for the rest of his time here, and if he cannot deal then then a Div II transfer can be arranged. He is not a Div I level talent.

I agree. look to Morrell or Gaines in 2017 or a grad transfer would be ideal.

You don't burn redshirts on freshmen for a few games as that just creates more future attrition in the team, and we already have a problem. What freshmen are we going to play?
QB-Morrell is already playing so you don't play Gaines as it is good to split the classes with these two.
RB-We have no Freshman RBs except Weems and he doesn't seem to be ready as a RS-FR.
WR-Johnson played and is out for the season. Rodgers is playing as a return man, but should get increased action the last 3 games.
TE-Mitchell is an automatic redshirt as he needs to learn the position, which may also be our deepest
OL-We sure as hell aren't burning any redshirts of our Freshmen as they wouldn't be of any help.
DE-There are no T-FR DEs and we already have 3 RS-FR getting substantial PT
DT-There are no T-FR DTs and we already have 2 RS-FR getting PT
LB-Our only T-FR player has been playing a lot
CB-2 of 3 T-FR corners are getting a ton of PT and the other T-FR needs to redshirt to get physically ready to play
S-Our T-FR safety is already get some PT and our other T-FR Drayton may be an academic redshirt (Not the same as NQ)

Bottom line, is that we have 19 T-FR scholarship players on the roster (5 OL players), and 8 T-FR are playing or have played this season. All remaining T-FR must redshirt or need to redshirt.

I know, I just don't believe Litton can be counted out yet. A good jolt to his ego by starting Morrell over him could cause him to make changes to himself and make him work harder to be a good QB.
