Is that Marshall's band at :16 in the original One Shining Moment?

The trombone player has a map of West Virginia painted on his face.

MU ATO......I think (??) it may have been taken in Charlotte the last time The HERD made the Big Dance vs TCU.... late 1980's (1987 ???) with Huck's HERD. It was taken (the picture) at what is now Bojangles Arena, located on Independence Blvd....a large Silver structure that seats about 11,000 for basketball.

Well for a relative of MD you have a bad memory. Granted the game was played at the old CC and TCU was the opponent but you're off 15 years with regard to your cousin.

Yes, that's the Herd pep band. It has been so many years since we've been to that 1987 NCAA, that it brought tears to my eyes. We lost to a mediocre TCU team. It has been suggested that Skip Henderson and some of his cronies didn't bring their A-game on account of possible post game consequences...

Yehh I mean us being the #13 seed we should have been heavily favored over a #4 seed. The darn bad TCU team list by a whole 1 point in the next game against a small school called Notre Dame. I mean we had to be heavily favored as a 13 seed.

Huck believed in playing man to man D no matter what, and TCU was much quicker than we were & abused us. There were many MU faithful there (we had a huge advantage in fans over TCU in CLT) who were baffled that Huck wouldn't switch to a zone to neutralize TCU's quickness. Seemed like a good matchup and perfect location for an upset going in... but wasn't much of a game.

Seemed like a lock that we'd be back in the NCAA's the next year, but next year still hasn't come yet.

Ironically, current TCU HC Jaime Dixon played on that Horned Frog team that defeated the Herd in the 1987 NCAA tournament.

TCU won this year's NIT and with everybody back, the Frogs look like they're a good bet to go dancin' in 2018.

You mean we had another coach besides our current one who absolutely refused to play a zone defense no matter how badly we were getting beat on man to man D by quicker, more athletic opposing players??
