Was Cook at Depaul for two years?

Yea but he didnt enroll here until January and he is listed on the Fall roster for Depaul even though he wasnt enrolled there. They kind of screwed him but I believe we are appealing so he can play during the fall semester.

Possibly Kinsey in place of Ezzedine or Bledsoe. If so, expect to see Kinsey and Brooks redshirt.

That’s what I’m hoping for.

As @Herdmeister points out, Taevion Kinsey looks to be an increasing possibility, but I’m thinking he’ll be a non-qualifier.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed on Ezzeddine.

Did he hire an agent?

Edit: He didnt sign with an agent. Unless he is a guaranteed First rounder, he will be back for his senior year.

Is the former Huntington St. Joe player (Murphy?) still around and planning on walking on the team next fall??

who's Ezzadenine? Any intel?
He’s a JUCO who played at Huntington Prep before transferring to Greenbrier East his senior season...where he played for Jim Justice.

There was a lot of interest in him out of HS, but he choose to go the JUCO route—I think he would have been a NQ. Looks like we’re back in on him.

He has wanted to come here all along but Danny has been slow to decide if he wants him. I know that Clemson has offered.

Don’t understand the hesitation on him. I know we don’t have the roster spots right now, but Ezzeddine’s skill in our system would be a nice fit.

Fingers crossed we have room for Ezzedine. I believe we are over by 1 right now so we would need a couple of players to leave or someone on this list to be a walk-on. There a couple of other 2018 targets besides Ezzedine that could end up at MU as well.

We have room, we play 7 players and our bench is trash. Get rid of the dead weight and revamp the bench.

It has already been discussed on Old Fairfield that you just can't get rid of a player unless they want to go. There may be two leaving and a guy on your list might be a walk-on, which would open up the needed spots for Ezzeddine and Kinsley. We also have the flexibility to take a player or two with the talent that will be NQs as well so we could take a NQ or two to stash for the 2019-2020 team that will have 4-5 scholarship spots available.

I thought that the scholarships are one year deals renewable every year. No longer such a thing as a "four year scholarship". Just wonder if Thieneman is close to graduation. Has been at MU for 3 full years now. If a pretty good student, then hopefully MU can get him on some academic aid, scholarship $$, etc., to help him complete his degree say by the end of the fall, 18-19 semester. That way if he wants to continue to play basketball, he could leave MU as a grad transfer and play elsewhere immediately. Doesn't cause any hard feelings, MU has produced another alum, etc. He seems like a decent kid/student from a good family.

On another note, does the spring signing period begin NEXT Wednesday, April 4th, or the following Wednesday, the 11th??

Wednesday April 11th

Danny indicated Monday night that there are some players looking at us now that never did before due to our recent success. He also mentioned that there some players we had tried to connect with that had ignored us that are now listening.
We may find that the 2 players most mentioned on here that could be coming are in fact passed on due to better talent?

Tradionally grant in aids for athletes were for one year with a renewal. Coaches normally didn’t run players off because the fallout on the recruiting trail was damaging.
In the current recruiting climate schools have begun to offer guaranteed grants as a recruiting advantage. Usually this is done at schools that have all or most of their grants endowed or are using non tax payer funding in the athletic dept.
In addition the huge increase of transfers and grad school transfers has changed the landscape and actually helps coaches find soft landing spots for players that may need to transfer for a variety of reasons.

even if you take that position, with Cook, Bennett, Brooks Harris and Dillon... that only leaves two to revamp. CT and PB

Running off a kid who was the 7th option on his HS team and a Euro JUCO is not going to hurt us in recruiting.

I just dont think CT or DK will be here next year. That is why I didnt list them on the roster at the top.

I was counting on DK being gone, but with 13 schollys you have our top 7, plus 4 newcomers, and that leaves DB and CT as two to revamp the roster by leaving and opening spots.

That is unless Brooks Harris is a NQ.

I agree....and we are just now going to settle into our recruiting niche so I don't think we have any bridges to burn. If anything, we've offered some guys great opportunities at D1 when they had limited options.

You can help them find better options athletically that will help them in the long run and not compromise their progress academically. Make it a win-win

Limited to no other options.

Above comments go along with what I was saying about Thieneman. If he can get his degree by this summer's end, then if he wants to pursue basketball our staff can perhaps help him find another school where he could be eligible right away as a grad transfer with 2 years of eligibility remaining.
