Since last weeks flood of arm chair criticism of IG, thought we might attempt a civilized discussion after the return of the riverboat Bell (!)
to the Shewey. Stats were decent, no picks & he ran the ball when the opportunity was available. Did he do enough in your opinion? Or is this going to be a weekly mood ring depending on the “what have you done for me lately” crowd?
I personally though he looked comfortable in the pocket & his footwork was better. Loved his emotion at the end of the game and post-game.
What sez the Nation?

I thought he played well. His stats would have been better if not for a couple of drops (one long gain and one a touchdown). It could be argued that the long one dropped wasn’t a wise throw but still.

He ran the ball well, 60% completions, no turnovers.

As much criticism he received last week he should get some praise on here this week.

Ditto. He is improving each game. Love it that he can run when he wants/needs to.
I do hear the kid works hard at his craft. Watch's film and wants to get better

I saw a different QB the last two drives of the game. The team had adversity, down by 4 for the first time late in the game. Down to our 3rd string RB. With all that I saw a young man lead basically back to back TD drives to finish off a rival. Scrambled to avoid a 3rd down blitz to throw a TD and choosing to carry defenders instead of sliding to get first downs. He put the team on his back and was the first player to grab The Bell. He’s young and still a long way to go but in my opinion he took ownership of the team Saturday.

The kid back peddles way to much. Last year he had Brady and Marcel. This year he has Levias. Last year he had Anderson, King, and Knox. This year, youth and a bunch of speed baby backs. If it wasn’t for Levi, Madden, Ball, and the rest of the big ugliess, he is in a load trouble. I’m anxious to see him after the trip to Murfreesboro. If Cincy doesn’t murder him in two weeks. The jury is still out on Green for me. I’m glad we have Thompson for insurance. This Wells kid is on the way!

Congrats, you got 9 posters to agree with you. Look, I hope the kid does well but I don’t see it. I also don’t think AT is the answer either, I think Doc should be looking at a transfer next season to bolster his QB roster. IG is a decent QB but he makes some very bonehead decisions. I like his poise and his fire he gets (sometimes) but other than that I’m not at all impressed

Littons mechanics weren't great, he threw off his back foot - which is why many of CL's throws were high. His deep ball was poor at best and he wasn't much of a film guy and poor leader.
Cato had awful mechanics but worked hard and was a student of the game. Took him two full seasons to get comfortable.
Early on people thought Leftwich didn't have it either. Give IG some time, I think he'll be OK.

Absolute waste of a scholarship. We haven't exactly brought in any really good QBs that were transfers. At best they've been polarizing. Willy Korn's arm was trash, we've debated Birdsong till the cows come home, and Thomson appeared to be damaged goods like Korn. None have been a serious answer. They were all brought in as stop gaps. Kai Locksley was another one. Because he was coming from Texas so many said he was going to be the next big thing. He passed for a grand total of 937 yards last season on 49% passing and was arrested on DUI, gun charges, and making terroristic threats. He was later reinstated, but still.

Grant Wells is redshirting right now and 3-star Eli Sammons is committed. I still have my reservations about Green, but I must like all of us need to remind myself that Green is only 3 games into his 2nd season. Not saying he is the next Herd great, but in Cato's first season everyone was calling for AJ Graham and in his second season everyone was calling for Blake Frohnapfle to get a shot. Then midway through his junior season it clicked and no one questioned Cato again. Green has shown flashes what he can do. If we can get him to play more like he did against Ohio we'll be more than fine. I just don't want to waste a scholarship on someone else's pine rider or washout. The good QB transfers are gone by the time they get down to us. Unless you're telling me that we're going to get a Jalen Hurts talent, but that ain't happening.

I am amazed - only 1 significantly negative response! Even Trump doesn't get 100%..... ;)

I believe IG has a high ceiling. Give him/the coaches and teammates 2 weeks to get ready for a tough test vs Cincy & I think we will be able to win that one. Then into (yawn) conference play. The kid has talent, can wing it downfield with just a flick of his wrist and can run when available. I like him. Maybe marine will learn to like his potential as well.....
