Wonder if OSU has lights?

Yes, they have lights. Does Marshall not have lights at the stadium they still don't have yet? Thought I saw them in the picture somebody posted of the rendering a couple years back.
I knew OSU would. I was just making a joke. Nope, we don't have lights. They had to call two games last week due to darkness. Ridiculous they can't get them lights, but little leagues have them.

I was joking as well. I saw earlier this a.m., where some of the Herd baseball players were upset about having to suspend a couple recent games due to darkness. Makes sense that historically, the Herd would have trouble recruiting decent players without having their own facilities. Probably should not even have a program. Most D1 schools wouldn't field a team without having an actual field. Would equate to having a swimming and diving program without having a pool.

I can't understand how we still play games on a field with no lights... We can't work out a deal with Cabell Midland High School to play there on weekends in the non-conference?

And before anyone says, "Yeah, at a high school stadium"... That high school stadium is nicer than where our guys play, and it has lights.

Probably should build an actual stadium first , then instal the lights

This ongoing saga is beyond embarrassing for Marshall University. They have been saying they are going to build a new stadium for something like 40 years. I realize money doesn't grow on trees, but at some point the state of West Virginia needs to get involved and make this happen. If local high schools can have stadiums then By Golly Marshall should be able to figure out some way of financing a new field.... with lights) !!!

Marshall has been asking for donations for over 10years for a baseball field. Last year or 2 years ago that goal was made( AD posted and said ground breaking comeing soon). Now were did all that money go? And why has there been 2 ground breaking ceremony for this as well with out said $. Ether someone isn't being honest with the fans or someone isn't running ( AD ,financial area personnel) with said $ to build a stadium correctly. I think the new AD and Smith will get this done soon atleast my thinking.

Lots went into what you're seeing.
Enough money was raised, at least they thought that.
COVID hit soon after the groundbreaking.
Hamrick got let go, president left too, and it turns out the bids were under budget.
Construction went back out for bidding.
Hamrick (as far as I know), is still on building the stadium. Inside BoG politics has created a problem with location of said field as well. A portion want it moved to tbe ACF property (which isn't fully demolished yet) while the initial location is what Hamrick wants.
Now there's a transition of power with Smith and a new AD.

I have a question why didn’t Marshall ever develop St Clouds to be the spot for Marshalls baseball stadium. I know there was drainage issues but I would think fixing the drainage issues would be a lot less expensive than building a new stadium.

At one time St Clouds was a really nice field and back during the Jack Cook Southern Conference days it was Marshalls home field. It was during that time MU almost made the college World Series twice.

I just wonder why they didn’t go ahead and completely renovate that park. They had a nice grand stand that could have been re done, plenty of seating, plenty of space to build nice locker rooms, batting cages etc. You may have had to pave in some of the other fields but you could have had plenty of parking. They already had lights.

They could have ran shuttles from Marshall to the field on game day so students could go. I know why they can’t do it now but I wonder why 25 to 30 years ago they couldn’t have done it.

Usually floods 1-2 times every spring. It was a nice park when the Cubs played there - A bit of nostalgia from that old park.

We could do the same at the Kennedy center as well. A stadium not in or directly by campus doesn’t do anyone any good though.

Somehow the Cubs managed to do it until 88.
