Laborn

I have watched that last big run to set up our go ahead score probably 15 times and I still get a big smile on my face and just taken back about how big time of a run that was. Not just when it happened, but how he pushed himself up twice and still never lost speed. That is a kind of RB talent we aren't used to having. We've had some really good RBs and some great RBs, but Laborn is on a whole other level. You're seeing why he was the #1 RB coming out in 2017.

That natural grass turf at ND is always tough for opposition to come in and stay on their feet. Laborn slipped twice on that long run, which made it an even more incredible run. I'm guessing Marshall didn't try to adjust by changing cleats, or don't even know if they brought different types of cleats, but teams that have played there previously often have to change them out, all predicated on how the turf happens to be prior to the game, and often even during the games there.

We had guys slipping all day long. Why our EQ guys weren't prepared for that is beyond me. Like when Keaton fielded that one deep punt. As soon as he planted to take off he fell on his face. Maybe we should hire Snyder to just come back and walk around the sideline looking at everyone pointing out that we gotta get that fixed.

ND field was brand new artificial turf. Grabbed a couple pinches of the rubber and put in my pocket for a keepsake.
I knew they went to artificial turf back maybe 10 years ago, but thought they were going back to natural turf this year, but looked it up, and it's a new kind of field turf. Still, most teams playing there can't seem to keep their footing, and often have to change out cleats. I assume that's true at a lot of places though, but it's really noticeable during ND games.

The turf was weird in that the pellets were about an inch below the top of the turf so the blades kind on laid over. Almost looked like they didn’t fill it enough.

A lot like Ahmad Bradshaw on that incredible run. Balance, speed, determination.
You don't become the #1 overall RB in a recruiting class by chance. Laborn has it all. Speed, agility, athleticism, power, and physicality. You say everything from him. He was side stepping people without losing speed, out running defenders, lowering the boom on defenders, and keeping himself upright. He was even involved in the pass game.

I like Ali a lot, but we are extremely blessed to have Khalan Laborn.

Don’t forget balance he almost went down twice (turf slip), but was able to plant his hand steady himself for a big run

We finally have an OL that can run block. Previous OLs I felt did fine on pass blocking but were not good on the run. Super job against ND.
