Last Night Proved

Just glad the whole thing is over.....have had enough of the media slobbering all over floyd 'i love hitting women' mayweather - i know he'll still get some time on espn but hopefully the network will keep him on first take so he and stephen a smith can continue their lovefest in private

An MMA fighter has no chance in a box ring.

Other than a puncher's chance of course they don't. I'm not sure why people expected Conor McGregor, who essentially was an amateur boxer, to upset a guy that was 49-0 and one of the G.O.A.T. in the sport. Would anyone expect the guy that won the 100m in the decathlon to go out and outrun Usain Bolt?

That being said, I'd actually pay $100 to watch McGregor get the woman-beater in the octogan and make him suffer.

And a boxer has no chance in the octagon.

That said, McGregor lasted ten rounds. You think Mayweather would last even one round in the octagon?

I think so, with his defense and 4oz gloves and 2 years of training.

And McGregor last 5 rounds survived 3 and was clueless where he was the last 2.

Either way, Boxing is still king within the fighting world.

Hell, Conor came out a winner if you look at the whole thing...
Walked into boxing's best ring, lost in 10 rounds with legitimately winning a few prior, walking out on his own feet, and collecting a $100 million paycheck, still in his prime.

The result "Conor will lose" was not a shocker, the fact he did what he did to Floyd, made him the long time winner.

...and those who are sick of the talk, congrats, now it'll be about LeBron and the Cavs and Stephen A Smith yelling at everything...

No way in hell Floyd would last one round. one swift leg kick Floyd goes down then gets hammer punched or in a submission hold.

And boxing isn't king of anything. The triple G canelo fight will be very good but outside of that there's not much to keep the casual fan interested.

In a street fight I will take a pro boxer over most every UCF guy 9 times out of 10. I didn't say octagon either. That kicking shit isn't going to work and their only hope would be to get a boxer on the ground, assuming they can grapple or wrestle worth a lick.

Boxing is still ultimately the King. McGregor the biggest UCF star made more money fighting in a boxing match against Mayweather than he will touch in his UCF career.

In 30,50, 100 years people will be talking about Ali, Marciano, and Mayweather. They won't remember who a UCF fighter is.

MCregor is a 170 pound man who was 27 and after round 3 Floyd played with him. McGregors so called power punch was no existent. He had no way to hurt him with a punch. Floyd weighs 150 and was 41 years old.

Look McGregor did well. I give him lots of credit. UCF is fantastic for what it is. Boxing is fantastic. Most UCF guys need to stick to that and not boxing. I have respect for all them. Pro boxing is an immense skill.

I'd say being able to grapple worth a lick is mandatory for MMA fighters today. Some are better than others, but they all can do it. Most street fights end up on the ground, and that's when someone who wrestles or knows a form of jiu-jitsu is going to put the hurt on someone...they put you on the ground and it gets ugly.

There's a reason a lot of cops learn MMA styles, and there's a reason not many go to a boxing gym. Trading punches in a street fight is for dummies.

i said if they went to the ground it would favor the mma guy if they were good at wrestling, grappling, etc.

That being said, I am sure George Foreman or Evander Hollyfield could probably hold their own if it were a street fight.

They'll need all that money for caregivers when they are slobbering brain damaged vegatables in 20 years.

Those are large men. I would not want to trade punches with them. I'd say in a street fight another large man, Brock Lesnar, would probably rip one of their arms off lol.

The LAPD did a study and found that 60-some percent of fights with an officer went to the ground. People tackle, push, pull, trip, etc. And as more and more people learn MMA, they WANT to go to the ground. The old ways of "putting up your dukes" is dying.

Um yeah right... no gloves in a street fight. You think boxers know martial arts? Get real. The octagon would only help the boxer versus a street fight. Mcgregor had no shot to win, but in a street fight when you have martial arts training? Da fook outta here....

Yes, a MMA, grapler, UCF or wreslter would want to get a boxer on the ground. That is what I said. That is where they excel. Why would they box a boxer.

I never said boxers knew martial arts. That was my point.

You guys saying that a boxer would have any chance in a street fight or in the octagon with a MMA style fighter are insane. Mayweather would not make it anywhere close to one round with McGregor in an MMA fight even if given the same time to train that McGregor had to get ready for the fight this weekend. Boxing nowadays is soft.

Let me clarify this statement, I am much more of a boxing fan than I am mma. But You think a boxer is going to be able to defend a kick to the head or a knee to the thigh consistently like he can defend a jab?!?! Come on man it is a completely different skill set and in a street fight, where rules go out the window, an mma fighter would win the majority of the time.

I never said Mayweather would have a chance in an Octagon. He would get crushed. Most anybody knows that. That is like saying how would McGregor do against the 170 lb olympic wrestling champ on a wrestling mat. The wrestler would pin him easy. In the ocatagon Mcgregor would beat the wrestler.

Boxing so soft that a 41 year old guy who weight 20 lbs less made the best MMA fighter who was 27 look like he needed a IV bag at the end of round 3 and was also being on his way to knocked out and the ref stopped it. Dude hadn't landed a punch since the third round. His head was a speed bag. MCgregor had no power in his punches at all(not even early on). His conditioning was shit for boxing.

Yeah, McGregor could even hold his gloves up the last two rounds. He was done.

I herd the whole time leading up to the fight (I don't follow boxing or MMA) that McGregor had a punchers chance and if he could connect with his left, he could knock Mayweather out. I didn't see that at all. It was so bad, Mayweather became the aggressor because he knew McGregor couldn't hurt him. In McGregor, I seen a guy with heavy feet and light hands. That thing lasted 10 because that's just what Mayweather does.

exactly. I thought maybe he would have a shot and maybe connect a punch or come out in a fury. He had no power as compared to a pro boxer punch.

No real fight is ever just boxing. Any amateur level wrestler can clinch, take it to the ground, and wreck any boxer. No one stands toe to toe unless it's in a boxing ring.

Boxing isn't fighting... it's boxing.

Floyd wouldnt last 2 minutes in an mma fight. Look what happened to James Toney against Randy Couture

Connor mcgregor probably wouldn't have beaten mayweather, BUT! He did take the best boxer in the world , 50 wins 0 losses 26-28 knockouts? I think , 10 rounds...and might I add that he landed more punches then manny did, also won 4-5 of the 10 rounds... also he rehydrated the night before which he probably shouldn't have done because he put on 8-10 pounds since the weigh in.. slows you down... Connor mcgregor is a darn good fighter and is definitely not afraid to go toe to toe with whoever is in front of him... he at least deserves a little applause

Lmao, no he didn't. Floyd bet money on himself for the over which was 9.5 rounds, if it were 3 he would've beat him in 3. Don't fool yourself Conor isn't anywhere close to a mid card boxer

It's wrong to read 10 rounds as a McGregor accomplishment. It was more a Mayweather M.O.

I saw a guy post that McGregor should be congratulated because he had won 6 of the 9 rounds.

I was like 6 of 9. what fight were they watching. I might have given him 1 for sure and maybe 2 rounds. After that it was not even close.

Band wagoner, where were you in the 50's and 60's.
Well. Lol I was born in 60. Around 66 dad took me everywhere with his country band and all I remember were the steelers sucked. Im watching karma to burn tonight. You like them GD
