Lawrence co beat Lavonia 17-0 to improve to 9-0. Laconia won a state championship in new York last year
Thought rifle or fever will know where that is.

It's Livonia. I have heard of it but didn't quite know where it was since they were too small to play them in anything. They only have 500 students in the high school, which is about the size of my freshman class, so I can't imagine they are fielding much talent in any sport.

Well we beat them with backups. New York must have a very weak small school state tourney. In Kentucky like in basketball we have the sweet 16. The best tourney in the country. Small schools win a lot of times against schools 5 times their size. We played a louisville school in the state title that beat us like 4-2. Their pitcher threw around 95 miles an hour. He had thrown 100 mph before. Last I heard of him he was freshman of the year in the sec from Arkansas. Sec is the best baseball in the country by a mile. Kentucky and Louisville both are good. I don't know about this year

Big schools (AA, A, and mostly B) don't ever play class D (small) schools. Why would a school with 2500 students play a school with 500 students? It's unfair.

When I was in high school, we (a class A school at the time which is now AA) scrimmaged a class D school. They were the only other school still in the basketball playoffs (final four) within a two hour drive, so we wanted to stay fresh and play somebody instead of ourselves. We went to their gym, and it was embarrassing to play them because they didn't have the size or athletes. They have kids who usually grow up playing with each other their entire lives, but the lack of small towns having the same type of athletes and being able to select the best of a big pool hurts them.

Baseball is different in that one dominant pitcher can carry an entire team for a game.

The NY teams are down south for spring break because they can't get outside to play. Beating a team which probably hasn't had a single practice outside all season isn't something to boast about for Lawrence County.

Livonia is south of the Rochester area and is mostly farmland, population is tiny. They only have 5 seniors so it looks like they graduated quite a few kids. Lacrosse seems to be the sport of choice in NY, New England areas I’ve lived in which hurts baseball in the north.

I used to watch a little small school in WV beat the living dog shit out of the larger WV schools, as well as some decent sized schools across the state lines. The Blue Devils of Northfork High. Not sure where they came from, but they had a roster full of tall colored boys.

I agree, I played AA at Independence and WWHS the largest AAA school in the state at the time wouldn’t even schedule us, we were in the same county.

Nope, they were just coal miners who hadn't showered in days.

Probably used the same logic as WVU uses on Marshall. Woodrow would snub their nose at pretty much anybody, especially when Barksdale was there. Man, that dude was a prick, or at least he came across as one.

Barksdale was a nutjob, but he was a good coach. I started at wwhs and left my sophomore year. I hated it there

You should have drove down the road a couple miles, and went to Mt. Hope. You would have had the opportunity to break all of Gary Sweeney's school records.

Eddie begged me to go to Mt. Hope to play football for him. They didn’t have baseball or wrestling so I went to INDY. My dad went to school with Gary, only records he has was the most cigarettes smoked in the bathroom. Oddly enough my dad was at WWHS his sophomore year and left also to go to Mt. Hope

Rifle shut up and go watch Hoosiers. Lol. I have seen many small schools beat schools 4 times bigger. Nothing more exciting

Kentucky high school teams beat teams from new York city in tourneys as regular as pippylongstocking's period. Beckley wv and Logan and Williamson use to beat teams from all over America until coal left towns. Gary WV had a team as did North fork who could play with anybody in the country. Of course im talking basketball. I think football leans heavily on the side of larger schools.A small school upsetting a large school is great as it gets for fans. Hickory Indiana pop 250. School enrollment 90 beat a team with 2800 students.

You do know Hickory was a fictional town. The story is somewhat based on the Milan Ind team that won the 1954 state Tournament.

Yes HICKORY was but as they were advancing those teams were real. Example linton was real.. My point was nothing to do with the name but the size rifle jr. DID I MISSPELL OR MAKE ANY GRAMMAR MISTAKES. IF NOTHING ELSE U CAN POINT OUT IM SCREAMING WHICH TRUTHFULLY IM NOT. BOY YOU ARE GOING DOWHILL FAST. HOW LONG TILL YOUR 70. LOL
