Look - I get it. Bobby P is at the top of the Pantheon of Herd coaches, & it would take a helluva run by a future HC to supplant him. That being said, he’s long past giving any helpful advice to a young HC who learned from Saban! Just sayin’........

You say some dumb shit, Lil Chucky, but this may top them all.

If you had a great math teacher in high school, does that mean you can't learn anything from a different good math teacher? If you learned how to build and run a company from Steve Jobs, does that mean you can't learn anything from another accomplished CEO?

Every single thing that works at 'bama won't necessarily work at Marshall.

Donald Trump likes Jim Justice who likes Bob Pruett...

Hmmm, trying to figure out why someone here would be so enamored with BP...

Coach IS a great guy 👍
And Elsie IS a Saint 😊👍

I get it. WWBD & all that. But soon BP will turn 80. And the game has evolved a bit since he hung up his whistle some 17 years ago. The things that worked for Bobby when he had Randy & Chad are not going to work for Huff. We need not go back to “aww shucks”; we are ready for: “I told our players we will honor their (Navy’s) dedication to and service for our nation after the game is won. And we will win by taking away their will, by dominating the line of scrimmage and attacking for 60 minutes.”

Would it be considered political if I made the observation that Coach and Elsie are not wearing masks?

Something Coach Huff understands very well is that the program needs support from the community and alumni. What better way to reignite passion for the program than to associate yourself with true legends of the program?

He's honoring Coach Pruett and the players, which means a lot to people who love Marshall. In turn, this builds admiration and respect for a head coach who hasn't even coached his first game, yet he is growing tremendous support from the fanbase.

Hope he doesn’t learn from him how to get us in trouble with the NCAA Or how to walk out on us after the sanctions are imposed
Maybe if Ridpath, our then AD or Prez would had the balls to step up and be truthful with the NCAA and not try to cover it up, we wouldn't have gotten the penalties we did. But hey, let's blame the coach for the entire mess. lol!
Chad P told them about the testing issues and they did nothing.

I was reading yesterday about a prop we lost because he couldn't get the money to pay for school during his prop year. Anybody who thinks that shhh didn't make a major difference is lying to themselves.

It's probably also the only way Marshall will ever perform at the level Marshall fans expect. For a minute I thought Marshall could compete running a clean program, but that minute was probably over by Snyder's third year.

Depends on the definition of competing. We can run a clean program and "compete" in CUSA. Any other league, nah. Now if fans stepped up and donated, that may make a difference.

I would say Coach Huff can learn plenty from BP. There is this magical thing called wisdom that many times comes with living life. It is not just about X's and O's. BP understands Herd Nation quite well.BP hs a record of 94-23. Thus far Huff is 0-0. When Coach Solach at Ohio was ushered out the door at Nebraska he took the year off before being hired by Ohio. He had been in a program ,which at that time ,was on the level with Alabama. What did he do? He traveled around the country and spent time with other coaches to see how others did things. In other words as good as they had been at Nebraska at that time he understood that others had views that would only make him get better. Good job Huff.

A Pretty wise coach once told me that he never had an original idea. He took an idea from every coach he played, coached under, or even competed against and used that to develop his own program. That man was a pretty successful coach with four state championships, two runner ups, and a boat load of kids who went on to play in college.

My point is Huff would be pretty smart to have picked Saban's brain, Franklin's, any other coach he worked under and NO DOUBT Bob Pruett.

So long as the black sludge keeps pushing its way back and forth through Jim Justice's hardened arteries, Bob Pruett will be an important and revered figure in Marshall athletics. No matter what he did, or has done since then.

Moron, sanctions were imposed 4 years before BP retired
Thanks so much for the 8th grade type name calling. The point is that after the sanctions were imposed the program went downhill. The loss of 5 scholarships annually was part of the penalties that were imposed and it crippled the program. We went from 11-2 to 6-6 in his last year before he bailed in the spring.

No kidding the name calling is disappointing. Another regular poster on here is doing the middle school name calling as well.

your point was spot on and the name caller made no sense really as MU was placed on probation four years earlier .....for a period of four years.

be careful...you are looking obsessed with me. not a good look for you.

Or how to walk out on us after the sanctions are imposed
He left at the end of the sanction period. Bob began having some conflict with the interim president. He was making some demands and wanted commitments for the program, coming out of probation, the University was not willing make. He gave an ultimatum in an attempt gain the commitment, the University called him on it. Unfortunate set of circumstances.

Regardless, I'm glad to see a new young head coach reach out and embrace great players and coaches from programs past. Huff has done more the first couple months on the job, to (re)build a culture of community and/or team than Doc did in 10 years. Huff is already taking an active part in the community, the same way Pruett did. Now we just need to see if he can lead a program at game time.

Pruett starts coming back around and the soccer team proceeds to make the Final 4. The greatness from this man rubs off on anything he touches. Bob wakes up and pisses excellence. I bet those soccer players from Brazil and Germany chose Marshall because of the legend of the great football (futbol) coach.
