Legg is back...

siap Marshall: In addition to the full defensive staff we previously reported, Charles Huff’s offensive staff will include Tim Cramsey (OC), Telly Lockette (RBs) and Bill Legg (TEs) per Bruce Feldman. Feldman adds that Jeremy Springer will serve as special teams coordinator.

Marshall: Sources tell FootballScoop Charles Huff plans to hire Eddy Morrissey as his new offensive line coach. Morrissey, has coached (or assisted with) the offensive line at Austin Peay, Mississippi State, Bryant, Princeton, Fordham and more.

I'd be interested to know what happened at Austin Peay...

Yea, forgot about that. Several coahces resigned including the HC.

The new coach let four guys go, including Morrissey. He should be one of the least of the concerns with the new hires. He has a working relationship with Legg, as does the new Director of Recruiting.

The STC and DC hires are absolutely mind-blowing.
according to this, he got out of town before he was let go....
Hudspeth was not the only Austin Peay football staff member to resign from his coaching position during that time.

Former Austin Peay offensive line coach Edward “Eddy” Morrissey left the program six days prior to Hudpeth’s suspension, while former running backs coach Craig Candeto submitted his resignation letter a week after Hudspeth’s exit.

Neither has returned phone calls to discuss their reason for resigning.

I think our play calling and overall performance from the coaches is going to be vastly improved. I look forward to trying to score when there is 1:14 left in the first half vs taking a knee. I think our 'brand' of football is going to change dramatically!!

That all depends on the situation. This isn't madden. What I want to see out of Huff is no more taking the air out of the ball when you're up 10 or taking your foot off the gas in the 4th because you're friends with the opposing staff.

I want that Steve Spurrier mentality. It's our job to score and it's their job to stop us. At the very least if we're up big let the backups actually play instead of just handing the ball off. Like Urban Meyer once said. Those backups show up and practice just has hard as everyone else.

And that was part of Pruett's success...when were up he put ins the reserves and got some quality playing time and experience that paid off very nicely down the road!

Do not know how Legg will do under Huff but....
  • Mercer - Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks (2019-Present)
  • Mississippi State - Senior Offensive Consultant (2018)
    • Helped Bulldogs average 28.5 points & 397.4 yards per game
    • Bulldogs finished No. 25 in Coaches Poll & earned Outback Bowl appearance
  • Marshall - Offensive Coordinator (2010-17)
    • Took Thundering Herd's offense to new heights, ranking sixth, 12th and second in total offense from 2012-14, respectively
    • Marshall averaged 534.3, 500.4 and 559.2 yards per game from 2012-14, respectively
    • Guided QB Rakeem Cato to a Herd record-setting career from 2011-14
    • Mentored three players who later appeared on NFL regular-season rosters: tight end Gator Hoskins, tight end Lee Smith & wide receiver Aaron Dobson
    • Mentored 13 All-Conference-USA first team selections and nine second team picks
  • FIU - Offensive Coordinator (2008-09)
    • FIU showed tremendous offensive improvement in almost every category with Legg in charge of the offense
    • Golden Panthers offense improved nearly 68 yards per game in passing offense and recorded a 10-point improvement in per-game scoring
  • Purdue - Co-Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line (2003-07)
    • Was Boilermakers' co-offensive coordinator from 2006-07 & offensive line coach from 2003-05
    • Boilermakers led the Big Ten in passing offense (291.6 yards per game) and total offense (415.7), ranking sixth and 13th nationally in 2006
    • Purdue led the Big Ten again in total offense in 2007
    • Legg saw four of his players reach the NFL: center Nick Hardwick, tackle, Kelly Butler, guard Uche Nwaneri and tackle Mike Otto

That's the impression I got from the press conference and I hope we do it. I'm in no way against it.
I'm not in favor of 'running up the score' but I DO believe in the philosophy that it's our job to score points and their job to prevent us from doing that. If they can't, and it's 35-7, let the reserves come in and PLAY, pass, trick plays, score, whatever to give them real game experience instead of just straight ahead blocking and dive plays. In reality, that actually BENEFITS the opponent as it provides good experience for them as well.

I hope Legg takes the job just so he can pay back Tommy Schuler and Cato for carrying him. All I remember are bubble screens and Cato scrambling after some busted pay by Legg and making it happen. didn’t mind Cramsey coming back cause at least you saw some new plays and attempts. Still trust Huff but this was an odd hire...Coach keeping everyone on the toes.
