Camp is now over

Talent is rampant

Have you purchased your season tickets

What road games are you going to

Where are you tailgating

Have you gotten out and organized your tailgating gear

What’s on the menu week one

Bout time to get those car flags up and flying

Also time to get the Beat VMI signs up at the office

We will be having a pre game lunch tailgate at my office next Friday!

Time to get this town back to the way it was when espn and or cbs would come into town for championship games. They would talk about how the town would shut down the day before the game, signs were flying, and green trash cans on the sidewalks.

Time to realize the program is what we make of it!

Let’s all work to generate the buzz again!

Talent is rampant-absolutely, like every other year!

Have you purchased your season tickets-Not this year after more than 20 straight years

What road games are you going to-Rice (love trips to the Texas schools)

Where are you tailgating-No. Haven't for quite a few year

What’s on the menu week one-See above

As I posted on another post. I expect an 11-3 record with a conference championship and a win against another G5 team in a pre-Christmas bowl game.

If you want the buzz around the program it has to win BIG and not be boring. You can't make people be excited and create false excitement or guilt them into it.

How is it boring? Why do you have to win big?

There seems to always be conditions added to success around here. It’s funny. Very little has changed

I would agree that only one championship in the last ten years stinks but... and if you can add conditions so can I... we were in it in 13, won in 14, since then there has been two special teams in this conference in western and fau and when I say special I mean for that particular season. It is not like we are out of it by mid October. This conference gets a bum wrap due to the bottom feeders but for years it has always had strong teams at the top winning. Arguably we have been the single
Most consistent program in the new CUSA

Let the sunshine pumping commence!

BTW, how the hell do you not know how to post a gif?

The facts seem to be alot of people consider Doc's brand of offensive football to be boring, and Doc himself to be a pretty boring guy. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just saying a good amount of folks feel that way. I'm hoping the Joan is packed in 2 weeks. I'm doing roundtrip 14 hours for it.

1. Agreed
2. Yes, same two as always
3. at Charlotte
4. Behind Sheetz on Fifth Ave.
5. No, but I will this coming weekend
6. It's going to be hot as F---, so probably something light/in the cooler. Subs, chips/pretzels, watermelon, brownies, Gin and Tonic

No season tickets here this year either.

Why? Because the only way to make this administration learn that the majority of us fans aren't happy with the direction of the program is to hit them in the bank account. I have enough contacts at the University to get free tickets for the games I'll attend. And before some reply about how hurting the bank account isn't the best approach, it's one of the few options left since the current administration isn't listening, or acknowledging, the previous communications, discussions, complaining, pleading, etc.

You don't have to agree with the coaching or the administration. I concur that we have not won as many championships as we should or could have. My concern is for the young men that are playing football and representing Marshall University. They come with the intention of winning and going to a bowl which we have accomplished more often than not. They deserve our support and encouragement regardless of what we think of "Administration" or "Coaching". I have been attending football and basketball games, through thick and think, since the early seventies. Always had a good time with friends and enjoyed our competing. Certainly do not believe we have always provided the best coaching. But, sometimes, even in our losing years, the coaches were working to develop the young men that came to Marshall to become the best they can be and good alumni and citizens. That deserves recognition and support.

So if Doc Holliday was fired and we had a new head coach and whole new coaching staff, things would be so much better? You think that the majority of the problem to winning championships is the head coach? Most quality high school players don't want to come here. They would pick any power 5 team over us. The team with the best players usually wins, no matter the head coach. Which means, at best, we could have a top 40 team. A lot of fans jumped on board in the 90's and expected that that situation would always be the same. Sorry, but no, Marshall has a ton of obstacles, and yet, still has winning seasons and wins a bowl game every single year. If that is not good enough for you, as Sam says, there are plenty of other teams that you can buy their hats and t-shirts and be a "fan" of that team. We will probably get to the championship game this year, lose, and beat some boring team in a pre-Christmas bowl game and win. 10-4. This sure is a lot better than most. I wish there was more, but this is all there is ever going to be. Don't like it? You can support Ohio State in Football and Kentucky in basketball if you like. You will typically be happy with what they do.

I always find this funny. You don’t like the “direction?” 3 wins to 8 wins to 9 wins. Clearly trending up. What direction do you prefer if you don’t mind me asking?

I like Doc, but, to be fair, it's a roller coaster. The direction is that of a roller coaster.

5 wins (2010), 7 wins (2011), 5 wins (2012), 10 wins (2013), 13 wins (2014), 10 wins (2015), 3 wins (2016), 8 wins (2017), 9 wins (2018).

America likes a winner. Frankly, Marshall football has been an underachiever. That might make it even worse. Dangerous situation: Apathy and settling for mediocrity.

Frankly, sir, you and some others help facilitate the mediocrity.

Herdygurdyman and I am Herdman are both correct with their posts. Inconsistencies, underachievement settling for mediocrity and not caring those are the outcomes for the program. We essentially play in the Sun Belt Conference 2.0 and can't make it to the conference championship game annually. Doc's record against winning teams isn't good. Why settle for the same?

Have you purchased your season tickets - Yes of course

What road games are you going to - none

Where are you tailgating - West lot

Have you gotten out and organized your tailgating gear - not yet

What’s on the menu week one -probably beef brisket and some other stuff + lots o beer

We have a stadium that seats 38,000 hosting events that average barely 20,000 people. Because of that, the scarcity that would drive season ticket sales does not exist. Even in years where Marshall hosts a marquee opponent, fans know they can acquire a single-game ticket in any section of the stadium pretty easily. Those that don't can always buy a ticket the day of the game, since Marshall never sells out and will oversell capacity if we actually do reach it.

I checked and they suck. 4 tickets would run me $1,060. No fvcking way I’m paying that for ANYONE on our home schedule.
Have you tried flights into CRW or CVG? Cincy has some direct flights into the NE I think. We took Frontier from CVG to LGA in 2018 for $95 round trip. Just a thought. 2.5 hour drive to Huntington from there.

I swear I just lost IQ points reading this endless, agonizingly incestuous back & forth between the Love Doc camp & the Hate Doc unit. If the C.I.A. needs a new technique for getting the goods from Al Queda Islamists.....just have them read this thread...………..they will give it up!! (Heavy muslim accent:) "Please, please, I will tell everything! Just no more baseyballking or sammyC!! Allah Akbar!!!"

Any official word on exactly how many season tickets the Herd has sold thus far? Remember not too long ago when the Athletic Department would come forth readily with such information?

Today, a different story. I believe you more easily could obtain the EXACT schedule with the dates and amounts of repayments of ALL of Governor Justice's business debts to ALL of his debtors, public and private, than you could obtain the true number of MU football season ticket sales!! And we all know how eager BIG JIM is to pay ALL of his bills!!!

Then do yourself a favor and don't read through the threads. Better yet, don't visit the message board at all. There, problem solved.

To my knowledge the season tix sales last year for football and basketball were never released. It seems that our athletic dept lives in secrecy.
Basketball season tix are on sale but the athletic dept has yet to announce the schedule. I actually stopped by the basketball office and they printed one out for me. I like the schedule and I think others will as well, once they can see it,
All that I have shared the schedule with also like the fact that there are no 3-4 week absences from the Cam like we suffered through last year.

Why the concern over season ticket sales? There will be between 14,000 and 24,000 at every game, with an announced crowd of 29,248. It's not a bad turnout for a G5 program.

As for the marine, who claimed to make good dough, aren't you working for the railroad? Hop a train and have them drop you off in Ona. You can walk the rest of the way.
