Liberty is Available

Why not? They could easily bus to/from....both teams want to play...how much would we be on the $$ hook for it it took place?
Not sure if they could pull off the testing and proper protocol in time.
Plus, the game date is cancelled, I would presume they can't go back on that, with setting up for the game itself. If I recall, one poster said it takes about a week to get everything prepped and ready to have a football game.
I mean, great if they want, just unsure if it's actually able to be done.

GHMY - please make it easy for an old man to understan’!! Are you saying MU would be challenged to get the Joan ready for a Saturday game? I would think a school with the wherewithal of Liberty is testing pretty aggressively and could satisfy our AD. Prob the most competitive team we could get at this point in the season.....

no, I think he is saying that the preparation takes time. Both teams want to look at film etc. Plus the Covid testing as well. It really stinks but it would be like trying to turn a ship on a dime.

Didn’t the UTEP north Texas game get cancelled. Two CUSA teams with no game. I say north Texas to Huntington or Marshall to North Texas

We all want to see Marshall play, but it's not as simple as strapping on the helmets and hitting the field. There is a great deal of study and prep that goes into playing any opponent. Both Marshall and Liberty have invested too much into their program to cavalierly put an undefeated record and national ranking on the line without adequate time to prepare for the opponent. It has nothing to do with being afraid and everything to do with putting your young men in the best possible position to be successful. At least that's my take. I am often wrong.

Its not as simple as you make it sound. There is plenty that goes into what you're wanting.
If MU ever tried this, good luck not being able to watch the game on any platform. MU nor Liberty would know what sort of gameplan to use. Also, given Liberty's...uh...beliefs, it'd be tough to convince me they're testing aggressively.

Earlier this season I was told that is takes 7-8 days at the absolute minimum to put a game together... From negotiating/signing contracts, to booking travel for 80+ people, to letting the stadium employees know, to getting security, etc... And that doesn't even take into account actual team preparation. No coach or AD in their right mind would book a game (especially a road game) on four days notice.

The idea that our game could be cancelled on Tuesday and we could play anyone, anywhere, on the following Saturday, is a pipe dream.

We have too much riding now to play thrown together games on short notice.

If the league goes with 5 league games to be eligible for the title game, all we have to do is win out and we are a lock.
I guess they won’t make anyone travel unless a game would have division title implications.
Frankly, It would be good to play a game in early December then have a week off.

If the we end our season on November 21st against Charlotte and play in the league title game, that’s basically a month of down time. Crazy.

Then most likely one week between championship game and bowl game

Agreed, now the question was What do we have Riding?

We are ranked 15/16 this week and we are undefeated. We have followed protocols and, to this point, have avoided Covid issues with the team. We are the second (coaches) or third (AP) highest ranked G5 team presently.

Liberty is in the Top 25. I would love to play them, but with 2-3 weeks advance notice.

I know we are stuck waiting on CUSA to do something with ppd games, but if it were possible, I would like to have Liberty in that 12/5 currently open date.

Why? They are probably going to drop like a rock starting next week? Unless you think they will beat Va. Tech and NC state. I don't.

You didn't know that until after you made the initial post.

Look, right now, there is not much riding on games we need to play. NY6 is Cincy's to lose, next up is BYU. It would take a lot for us to get there. We need games, quality games.

I have a weird feeling MTSU will be our next "Virus" problem. Charlotte needs the game so they are not going anywhere. As for makeups. FIU has no motivation to play again, Rice may or may not. That will be decided later.

My feeling is don't wait for CUSA to make any decisions. If we can get any quality game for Late Nov. early Dec. do it even without CUSA blessing. We are looking for a quality bowl now, maybe one with out CUSA affiliation.

Hell let Boise win the MTW and then Take them on in New Mexico. We win that game we just beat the Sunbelt Champ. and MTW Champion in one season. Now that's a statement.

As for Coastal, their schedule starts getting tough too. They have Troy next week followed by App.

BYU is not eligible for the G5 NY6 spot...they are Independent.....but I agree it’s Cincinnati’s spot to lose.....unless they get knocked off in AAC championship game....then they’re out.

BYU will likely get a spot if they stay undefeated. The B12 and PAC12 likely won’t have a team without 1-2 losses. The B12 isn’t looking good right now.

TwolfHerdfan ..........when you say “get a spot”.....get a spot in what? As previously stated BYU is an independent & therefore ineligible for the NY6.....I know you don’t mean the CFP.....

I concur. If we wait for Karen to make up her mind, we will be the pretty girl sitting on the sidelines watching the kool kids having fun. F that!!

If Boise beats BYU to run the table, it will be between them and Cincinnati for the NY6 slot

Island - re-read: He’s saying if Boise beats BYU to go undefeated, it will be between them (BSU) & Cincy for the NY6 spot....

Misread.

What I’d like to see is Cinci and BYU make the playoff, both beat the opponent they draw and play for the title. Would really wreck the elitism in CFB. Hoping for everyone in the way of that to lose 2 games.

TwolfHerdfan ..........when you say “get a spot”.....get a spot in what? As previously stated BYU is an independent & therefore ineligible for the NY6.....I know you don’t mean the CFP.....
I have heard talking heads say they may indeed get a spot in the playoff if certain things happen.
ND is an independent in football and they will surely get a shot if they remain in the top 5. Just saying.

Cincy also travels to Orlando to take on UCF on 11/21. Don't count the Knights out, I think they win that game at home!

I don't think it's likely, but Cincy could climb into the playoff. Honestly, the look as good as anyone this year and I am sure they are chomping at the bit to play tOSU this year. That leaves it open...as do me, let's just win out which won't be that easy despite a weaker schedule. We have stubbed our toe in the past against MTSU and Charlotte...Looks like despite the loss to LT, the West is UAB's to lose. I don't think Coastal will win out, which would complicate things further. Boise of course is the usual choice, but hopefully BYU can take care of business and make it a non-issue.

Believe Liberty also has a game later this season with another current unbeaten, Coastal Carolina, who still has to play Appy St. UCF has 2 losses already even if they beat Cincy. Rest of the AAC better teams, like Memphis, Houston, SMU, all have tough games with each other and UCF and Cincy. MU needs them to beat each other, for BYU to defeat Boise Friday night, and for Liberty and Coastal C. to each get at least one loss; preferably CC will lose to Appy! As for MU, just keep winning our next 3, 4?, 5? games!

While that is a ton of dominoes to root for, the most important is Cincinnati, and baring injury I don't see anyone in the AAC beating them. They demolished a ranked SMU team last week and a 3-1 Memphis squad this week. UCF is way down from where they have been the past 3-4 years, Tulsa should have lost to ECU this week, and that's all that is between the Bearcats and undefeated.

Our situation hasn't changed, and likely won't... Win out, win the CUSA title game, and hopefully get a ranked opponent not named Coastal Carolina in a bowl game.

Totally agree. Let’s keep an eye on the prize. Win out, CUSA title, good bowl win and finish ranked in the Top 15 would be huge year, excellent year.

Hell, in early August before all the crap went down, I was hoping we would finish’ 7-5 with the original schedule.
