Just the way things work nowadays. Would have happened even if Huff was staying. Just think about last year when we lost guys like Elijah Alston, Jayden Harrison, Stephen Dix and Dyoni Hill.
All of that said, Tony Gibson will almost have an unlimited amount of scholarships to work with when the portal opens on Monday.
Right now, according to our notes, Marshall only has 75 scholarships allotted to players on the current roster: Scholarship Chart
Marshall, according to our notes, is scheduled to lose 19 scholarship seniors. That puts the scholarship number at 56.
Right now, Marshall has 13 signed commits in it's 2025 recruiting class. That would bump the scholarship number up to 69.
That means without a single player hitting the portal; the scholarship limit not going up to 105; and all 13 2025 recruits honoring their NLI once they become void after Huff leaves - Gibson could bring in 16 additional players via the portal or the second signing day in February of 2025.
