That's because there still hasn't been a thread titled "Fire Dan D'Antoni!" lol.In middle of the season. Hmmm but never here.
Just google Chris Mack and there are several articles. Here's a piece from espn.com.What are the accusations?
Why not seek out Chris Mack? The guy can coach, won at X and has a record well above .500 at U of L.Louisville is a dirty program. Always has been, back to Crum. Eventually they throw the coach under the bus in some attempt to get mercy from the NCAA. With the NCAA neutered now, I don’t know how this goes now. Cheating is legal now.
There is also some kind of political issue in KY about the YUM Center. Lots of KY taxpayer money spent on an arena for UL, which nobody outside Jefferson or Oldham counties gives a flying f*** about. The school had a deal where they had to leave it set up for basketball all season, which the state undid because they were missing out on concert money and the bonds were going to default. Now, with the team being crappy, they can’t draw flies. Which makes a default seem certain. Leaving Cats fans all over the Commonwealth on the hook for the boondoggle.
Application to MU. This is not that. Colleges almost never fire coaches mid-season, absent something like the above. What we have is simply an incompetent coach whose incompetence has become apparent. He should have the decency to resign after losing the play in game at the CUSA tournament, and if not, someone should have the adult leadership to simply fire him.
The real discussion we should be having, right now, is what bright young assistants would be a good fit for rebuilding this garbage program.
If we are looking for a new coach next year there are a bunch of good ones on the market who could use a fresh start/rehab.Why not seek out Chris Mack? The guy can coach, won at X and has a record well above .500 at U of L.
Gregg Marshall in a heartbeat. If we are looking for a new coach next year there are a bunch of good ones on the market who could use a fresh start/rehab.
Mack, Gregg Marshall and John Brannen come to mind.
I wouldn’t mind Marshall or Brannen at all. We give kids second chances, why not coaches. If we are looking for a new coach next year there are a bunch of good ones on the market who could use a fresh start/rehab.

Sam you posted “Colleges almost never fire coaches mid-season, absent something like the above.” Really? Did you not pay attention during the recently completed football season? Sine coaches fired after 2-4 games, others in mid-season. Yes it happens more and more.Louisville is a dirty program. Always has been, back to Crum. Too bad Danny D. wasn't coaching at a college back in those days, MichiganHerd. With you sporting that glossy shooting percentage at some podunk schoolyard, why he surely would have given you a full ride scholarship without a doubt. He is still recruiting the same "sharpshooters" today to MU!Hillbilly ball.
You want it? You got it.
Reminds me of playing on the dirt court on School House Hill back in 1971. Never knew who was going to show up and play some hoops on any given day, but we would have a couple balls our parents bought us from Murphy's department store, and launch shots Meadowlark Lemon would have been proud of. We didn't care if they went in or not, only that we were allowed to shoot them. We would laugh about it after the games, just like DD does during his pressers. I think we made about 19% of the shots too. Legit 304 boys.

I thought John got a raw deal at Bearcat High!If we are looking for a new coach next year there are a bunch of good ones on the market who could use a fresh start/rehab.

For real? Are you suggesting that Marshall fire DD in the middle of the season? He does not deserve that. He will be back next season and I am sure if we duplicate this season we will make a change. Hopefully that wont have to happen but sometimes it needs to take place. I am sure DD understands that so I would say he would retire at that point. Good Lord he is having a down season I have a feeling we will recover going forward.
This is goddamn Sam we're talkin' about here.Sam you posted “Colleges almost never fire coaches mid-season, absent something like the above.” Really? Dude, I'm not a "journalist" at all. I'm just some poster wanting to discuss MU basketball (run by an idiot) and football (jury still out, looking bad early, could go either way, blind faith is idiocy). This is *********** Sam we're talkin' about here.
The Onion has more journalistic credibility than he does.

But, picking up a handful of examples of the VERY RARE event of firing a coach, football or basketball, mid-season, is nothing. Its trying to play "gotcha". I'm sure well over 95% of college coaches ever fired, football or basketball, were fired at the end of the year.
Which is exactly what should be done here. Fire DD after he loses the play in round of the CUSA tourney. Fire the staff. Run off as many players as possible.
