I don't see that it makes much difference. Looks to me like they are just switching places. Band were students were and students where band was. No more tickets to sell.
Stupid idea. Having the band in the end zone the sound that they make goes north and thru out the stadium. If they are moved to the new / student section the projection of the music goes across the field.
Hope it's about having a touchdown image on TV and some sports science in drumming out the opponent with noise
Putting the band in the middle of the student section should really amp up the interaction & fan excitement. Plus gets more fans in the end zone. Good move!
This move does nothing. They should stay where they are. The fans seated next to the band will,be tired of hearing the band director on the megaphone giving directions the entire game. The current placement of the band gives the entire stadium the ability to see and hear them. If moved to the new area only those across the field will hear. Use some since. Moving the band doesn't increase ticket sales.
^ You have no idea how sound waves work, the band will be easier to hear with the move

Like Herdmeister explained above, no new additional seats will be available for sale. 123 will become a student section. They're just swapping seats.
That being said, I like the move. I like it because the Marching Thunder and the Maniacs, as student organizations, should be the heart of the student section. As they were in the endzone they were separate from their classmates. As it will be in 2016 they'll be flanked on either side and from above by their fellow students.
Having students in 123 expands the student section to cover basically half of the south endzone. That southeast corner is going to be a madhouse. I think it will make the student section look a lot bigger too. I think the Maniacs that usually occupy 117 will be in the position to see a lot more camera time in 123.

I don't know how many of you have ever been part of the visiting team and had the home teams band blasting away behind you but it can be very distracting...
