Marshall finished 1st in CUSA RECRUITING

Funny to see FAU so far down the list. Looks like Lane's pattern continues - he's a wizard coach, awful recruiter.

He's the anti-Doc - it amazes me the universe didn't collapse following last year's post-game handshake.

It's like getting a good hand in a card game, but step 2 is knowing how to play the cards.

Hope for the best.

Lane didnt recruit many this go around, but it was majority 3 star guys. Not sure if it means anything. He was never head coach long enough anywhere to prove he can recruit long term

But, but, but, doc sucks as a recruiter...... (sarcasm)

Recruiting is one thing , getting the needed results from the recruits is another deal all together. While he may be able to recruit (on paper) the program ( in a seriously weak (listed as a D1 conference) conference fails to in and out of conference consistently provide the results you would think would be provided in said weak conference.

Will be interesting to see how the one armed transfer QB pans out as well as the results of the two major college OOC games.

Fair statements, minus the jabs at our new QB transfer.
But I find this news refreshing since people kept complaining about Doc's recruiting abilities during the season.

Seems like Doc has heard the fanspeak...and has responded.
Still unclear how the future looks, but it sure has more potential to look better.

For that, he deserves credit.

The total points ranking that keeps getting referenced on here is extremely misleading.

Each player signed gives a team points. Marshall was credited with 30 signees, while FIU had 24. Yet FIU finished just .03 points away, because they were signing higher rated players on average. In looking at average player rankings - a far better barometer - the story is much different.

Not true. Rivals only considers each school's top 20 commitments in their team rankings. I don't know how the other sites do it.

Correct.

Also, FIU’s entire class was built around two JC DTs who I believe won’t qualify.

To be fair, we will have our fair share of NQs in this class but most (if not all) of them will enroll in school and eventually play for MU unlike the JC DTs (if they don’t qualify).

One thing I wish Rivals did was an average numerical rating in addition to average star rating.

Why should a 5.7/3 Star be considered the same as a 5.5/3 Star if you're doing averages?
I believe the numerical ratings are taken into account in the total point rankings, so a school with ten 5.7 3-star recruits will score higher than a school with ten 5.5 3-star recruits. But like you, I'd still like to see an average numerical rating; it would be so simple to do.

Yep, you're correct. There are also extra bonus points for kids ranked in the Rivals 250.

Rivals Rating = Points

6.1 = 150 points

6.0 = 135 points

5.9 = 120 points

5.8 = 105 points

5.7 = 90 points

5.6 = 75 points

5.5 = 60 points

5.4 = 45 points

5.3 = 30 points

5.2 = 15 points

Do we know how many of this class will be futures?

If history holds a lesson, it's while today is nice how many recruits actually step foot on campus? This is a movie I've seen before.
That percentage is about 92% that actually enroll at MU.

Since I mentioned the average star rankings, I thought it would lead you to the conclusion that I was discussing the top rated recruiting service (247) since they are the ones who also use an average star.

CUSA isnt weak and recruited well as a whole this year for a G5 conference

I agree we HERD all the time how weak CUSA football is.....but the teams did a bang up job in Bowl games in December 2017....Just saying.....Researching...I think we only had one loser?
