Have we ever gone to the Elite 8 before in any sport at the Division 1 level? Have we ever beaten a #1 before? Can you imagine if we win it all? Go Herd!!!

Moreover they may well need to find some additional money for Coach Grasse in order to keep him. I’m sure some larger schools have taken notice of him the past two years regardless of how we finish.

If and BIG IF we win it all, we’re going to have to give him an Akron type contract. After they won their NC they gave their coach a 10 year, $350,000 annual contract.

Pull the money from wherever and whoever. If they want to piss and moan then just tell them that they can have it back when they reach the relevancy that the soccer program has.

Some of you guys are completely ignoring that the league signed off on this. I would say there was not a “decision” not to play. More like not meeting the league’s specifications to be able to play.

The cynical responses here are disappointing.

Grassie makes a pretty good income here. Sure they may need to up it a bit.
Hell, pull funds from the women’s basketball program. That’s a huge drain on the AD budget and they have NO hope to ever be more than slightly competitive in our league, let alone on the national stage.

If MU were to win a national championship... And again, huge if.... You double that amount. If you don't, someone else in the SEC/ACC certainly will.
If he were to bring us home a natty, IMO I would see him coming back next year and if that success continued being plucked to the MLS. Similar to Akrons coach.

I would think if he is putting together teams that contend and possibly win the national championship the only thing a larger school could offer is money.

we have a very nice soccer stadium, we have a very nice weight room, a very nice IPF that I’m sure they can use. We play in one of the better conferences for soccer in the NCAAs. Soccer is literally the only sport that we have that there are no extra incentives that a Power conference school has vs us.

The only thing could be more money. But when you are seeing what the top ncaa soccer coaches are making over 300K that’s not a huge investment to make to keep a coach who is literally the only coach in our history that has us playing for national championships at the highest level of the sport.
