Beyond knocking off America's Sweetheart Vanderbilt, the Panthers have been really bad. A late score to beat UT Chattanooga. Barely showing up Saturday at home to lose against Old Dominion. They've had issues on offense (as we all expected coming into the season). Defensively, they've been bad but not nearly as terrible as Georgia Southern was prior to our game Saturday.
If our team shows up Thursday night with a chip on their shoulders and wanting to get the taste of Saturday night out of their mouth, we should win this one without much suspense. If we have guys that are already looking around at where they're going to transfer to after the season, not fully invested in this season, then we could lose another one at home Thursday.
I thought going into Saturday that we were just good enough to win every game left. I also thought we were just good enough to lose any game left. Everyone is bummed out about Saturday. We did everything in our power in the 4th quarter to give them the game - awful coaching, awful execution, yada yada yada. But if you look at our teams going all the way back to 1997, every year we typically lose one that we shouldn't have, and we typically win one that we weren't expecting. Let's hope that Saturday was the one - the only one - from here out that we lose that we shouldn't. Georgia Southern will likely lose to JMU Saturday and at least one more down the stretch. It's a bad team. So winning the East is still on the table as of right now.
