Due to the importance of this game Friday I thought I would do a quick comparison in the numbers. Most of the categories are pretty close. The favor for one side or the other really is negligible. The biggest and most important one to me that is going to likely decide this game is the Red Zone. We are absolute horrible in scoring(107th) when we get there and preventing the opponent from scoring(50th) while LaTech is one of the top teams in the country on both sides (3rd and 8th respectively)

The one stat that really jumped out at me is our KR Coverage. 130 out 130. How is that even right. That's been one of Doc's hallmarks since he's been here. Field position is always a big factor in every game and with a team that can score like LaTech we better find a way to keep them on a long field.

Best case scenario developing, weather-wise. Bone-chilling cold. Wish the concessions would start selling hot Dr. Pepper again! That and an airplane-sized bottle of Wild Turkey will warm the body!! Go Herd!

Please excuse my ignorance. What is that? Sounds good, but I have never heard of or had hot Dr. Pepper.
Back in the day...…(the late 1960's) once the weather turned cold the concessions at Fairfield would sell Dr. Pepper heated up in an urn or some such contraption. So, you bought a cup of warmed Dr. Pepper. Tasted great during those November games (we didn't play games in December back then ;)) and the college kids and up would find it was a great mixer for their liquor. Probably would taste just as good from home these days....

I am no expert, either match-ups or wagering, but how are we giving points? The numbers look skewed mostly towards Tech......

Did you notice that in your analysis the 224.7 ypg was used both in total MU yards and passing yards; we are definitely averaging more that 224.7 total yards per game.

We are favored for two reasons.

La Tech is 8-1, but that is against a schedule ranked 145 by Sagarin (ours is only 109, but 145 is a number you generally see from FCS teams that play a couple of money games). They have only played 2 decent teams, Texas and USM.

Second, we are home and have a rep with bettors of playing well in Huntington. You have to remember that betting lines have nothing to do with who some book maker thinks is better. It's about picking a number that will put equal money on both sides.

They apparently have a good QB (5th year senior) who takes care of the ball (14 TD/4INT) and has the ability to scramble.

According to the article in the Gazette this morning they often line up with 4 WR and try to spread you out which could lead to opportunities to get to the QB or force him to make quick throws.

The problem I see is that if we give the WR a 10 yard cushion, he can nickel and dime us down the field all day. We’ve had a bend but don’t break mentality but they are 100% in the red zone (again the Gazette).

If we don’t get serious pressure on the QB and maybe force a TO or 2 we could are relying on our secondary and that won’t end well.

We’d better be able to run the ball, run the clock, and score TDs when we get to the red zone.

I'm hoping the players will get amp'd up playing in the 75 helmets. I know that sounds silly, but think about how well we've played when using a special helmet theme. An aesthetic that shouldn't make any difference often does.

Bear with me. I'll figure out this IT stuff one of these days.
But to add to ilm's post, And we'd better be able to score points after the 14:37 mark of the 3rd qtr. 3 second half points won't win this game.

Our DB's are gonna have to play out of their minds. The Tech OL is big and slow. Hopefully Lambert has some blitzes dialed up and our DL can get pressure.

Even at 3-9, Doc and the team demolished MTSU at home on the anniversary game.
They really do step it up on that date.
